Authentically detailed FE. Completely happy with it. Doesn't miss a beat, will sit in 100+ air idling all day long, and with about 400-425hp I can mash the throttle at any speed and the car just goes instead of burning the tires up.

Sal,
I think I am pushing about the same with my ERA and "mild" 427 SO. By mild I mean close to an original spec engine. Just curious about your cam choice. Mine is of course a solid flat with 114 LSA, 235/235 and about .556 lift.....again mild compared to most but l of low end driveability, stays cool etc. Takes a real good right foot push to get violent.

If I remember correctly, it's a Comp 278 cam, hydraulic. The motor only makes power to about 5500, but I really don't need much more than that in this car to have plenty of fun.
I have driven plenty of customer's high power Cobras and I really feel those big power motors take away from the actual use (read:fun) of the car.

I want a Cammer.
I just have the ubiquitous 482 with a CSX block, Edelbrock heads, Crower hydraulic roller cam, etc. I eventually plan to add TWM fuel injection.

Ekrupa2, what's the difference in the R-402sr and the R-402r? Are there performance differences, or is the difference in the amount of "shiny" parts?

Sean - from what I have been told and observed:
SR series - milder cam..."S treetable"
R Series - radical cam ..."R acing"
SR TW series (Twisted Wedge cam) - inbetween SR and R (flat torque curve)
You can order any series with the Polished Component Package. I chose not too.

I've got the same engine as ekrupa2, but with the shiny stuff...which makes it even faster.
Leaves tons of room to work in the engine compartment, but the position of the alternator is very close on an SPF.

Doug, I think the chrome package adds, what, about 50HP?

Minimum of 50HP! And it gives me something to shine when I point out the benfits of the "doohickey" and "whathamacallit" to my friends.

Doug, I just had mine out recently (had to tear down the whole front half of the motor to fix a $1.00 dowel pin for the fuel pump eccentric...nice!) and it's not all that bad. Just use the right tools/extensions. The harder part for me was when I replaced the water pump while I was at it...the bosses on the new pump were different and I had to modify the spacers and/or use a few stainless washers as shims to properly align the alt pulley with the crank/water pump pulley(s).
Boy, some of the engines on this thread make you just sigh and make your d*** shrivel up as if you just jumped into a cold river. I'm thinking of deleting my photo post out of embarrassment.

Size difference may cause envy and make the d*** shrivel, but the mighty Windsor still has enough power to make anyone pucker up.

I agree. Even with an all-aluminum 482 and 601HP, those SOHC's with the fuel injection or Webers make me feel...uh...inadequate.
However, I hear there are some major renovations needed to make those puppies fit.

Don't you dare. I love the racy look of your engine. I hope to achieve the same look at some time in the future.
