Left my house this past saturday morning to head out to our "Early Rodders" meet-up in La Canada. Left my house at 6:30 AM, with a temperature of 32. Drove past one of those electronic time/temp gauges at 6:40, and the temp was 38. Had the heater on in the Cobra...had a real warm right knee to show for it!
I wore thermals (top and bottoms) knitted leg covers under the jeans, a T-shirt, sweatshirt, a down jacket, Thinsulate/leather gloves, and a furry leather flyer's cap.
I kind of "hunker down" behind the windshield anyways, but the cold wasnt very noticeable at all. At least it was DRY!!! lol !!!

Believe it or not we can't drive them to much here in Phoenix, AZ right now due to all the darn storms. Drove it Saturday to a car show in the 50's but it was down to 40 this morning and now it is raining and supposed to stay that way all week. With street drags on this monster you can't get any traction on anything but dry asphalt.
when it isn't raining I drive it in any temperature, you should try it when it is 115 in the shade.... of which there is none of in a cobra. LOL

We drive year round here in SoCal, but the heat in our summer house in Arizona is the real killer. Like you said above, driving in 115-125 in the summer is not fun at all. You have to wait until the sun goes down and it's only 100 out  |

Ear muffs, gloves, winter coat, what a rush 29 degrees no top on but heater running on low. Filled up with gas for $1.79 93 octane cheapest so far. Looking forward to a cruise on Christmas Day, by the way Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year to everyone from Maryland!!!

Just above 40 degrees, clear and sunny when I left Santa Cruz on Saturday morning at 10:30 am to drive over to the Santa Clara Valley for lunch. Awesome drive!
I've driven my car when it was in the low 30's in Santa Cruz (no idea what the temperature was when I hit the summit in the Santa Cruz mountains)...I'll need better gloves if I do that again. 
Like others, if it's clear I'm usually up for drive.

Drove mine to get gas yesterday. Froze my A$$. Couldn't have been 60 degrees.

Cold driving
I drive mine thru out the winter, no top, no heater, over to the HDW store or to get coffee. Too cold 0 to 16 here wind chill was freeze your teeth off.
It's a bad thing to let cars like these sit too long, the oil needs to move & get hot.

Here in Ct the roads a mess. About 8" of snow past wekend which will melt with the 40 degree weather coming. To messy to drive on the roads.

I think it's more about road conditions than temp. As long as the roads are clear and dry, driving your Cobra isn't bad in cold weather. Here in CT., we've had the wettest year on record (26+ inches of rain so far in 2008). Hopefully next year is dry.

Today is "lunch day" for our club, The Havasu Classics, here in Lake Havasu City, AZ. We meet every Wednesday at a different local foodery and BS for a while. There are only two Cobras in the club with the remaing membership driving anything that qualifies as a hot rod...so the Cobras got to be there. Both are open cars, so no matter what the weather (other than rain) we will show up. I think it's going to be in the low 60's today.....perfect.

clear skies and low sun glinting on the screen here in nottingham (england) today, managed an hour of hooning around in my car and it was just above freezing point but still great fun, and good to get out on a rare dry day at this time of year; dress for it and you can have fun!!

The weather here around Nashville, Tennessee has been crazy of late. 9 degrees for the high 5 days ago. 70 today. I've been out in the Cobra numerous times in 35 degree temps if the roads are dry. Bundled up. Fun. Lots of thumbs up. My brother gave me the sheepskin RAF helmet and goggles from Moto Lita for Christmas! Looking forward to trying them out. |

Boy does this thread bring back some memories! I drove the Arntz on five Starlite Rallys, without a top. The rally took a little over 12 hours, starting in Santa Barbara and ending in Las Vegas the second week of December. We competed in Regular Class with the Equinox Team and the temperatures in the mountains was often in the teens. I gave up going topless in 1997 when I thought I was seriously going to die. We made it to the end, but even with the very best ski clothes, it was living hell. After that, I ran with the hardtop on.
The crazy thing is, I am planning to do it again (topless) in 2009. I have discovered and bought WarmGear electric jackets for our team. These things are fantastic! You can plug them into a cigarette lighter or wire them directly to the battery, like I did. We have run them on short rallies with temps in the 30's and you just dial the thermostat to a temperture you are comfortable with. You can run the jacket without a thermostat, but they get way too hot. With a thick ski cap and gloves, you can stay perfectly comfortable. On one rally last year, we got into some heavy rain. The jackets keep us warm, but the raindrops in the eyes was pretty tough to take. Any speed over 50 was fine because the water goes over your head. It was the twisty canyon roads that slowed us down. I took a lot of them in complete slides trying to keep the rain off our faces. It was such a blast!

Finally!!!
I drove my car with it's new engine today with semi-wet roads in 40 degree weather without gloves and just a ski vest. It was great until I ran out of fuel. Also the seat cuts off feeling in the right leg. I get about 15 miles to the leg numb. quick walk around the car and I'm good for another 15 miles. I have waited so long for this, it was great. Can't wait for really nice weather.
