Carb Rebuild Help Needed

Hi All;

rebuilding my first Holley 4150 and the needle seat assembly has me stuck. To help identify, the needle seat sits on top of both fuel bowls.

I removed the securing outer nut and the 2 small screws on the baffle plate but the needle seat does not easily come out and I do not want to force it.

Could someone please briefly describe the proper removal of the needle seat?

The needle should thread out. It sounds like the o-ring around it has gotten either stuck or hardened and it isn't coming out easily. The needle needs to be threaded out as much as it will go( see the small flats??), you may then have to pull up on it. You didn't need to pull the baffle, they are designed to be changed without removing the bowls. It also helps to spray some WD40, or similar lube, down around them to help the o-ring release.

thank you. Not 100% sure what you mean by the small flats. I'm not sure if perhaps the thread is catching? (there are 2 sets of threads on the new one seperated by a 2nd o ring)

When I unscrew it - it becomes quite locked down as if tightning a bolt.

I tried the spray - no luck.

Any thoughts?
