I am a long time subscriber of Sports Car Market. Keith Martin rarely gets things wrong when they break news.

As a subscribr, I got that e-mail also. The online article was part of the Insider index of news.

http://www.sportscarmarket.com/Shifting-Gears/2009/April/goinggreen.htm

It's hard to believe this is a good decision for a new car in this economy
I guess the green aspect may make it famous. What's with the Cobra thing as well?

Is that the April fools issue? I googled Series 2 after reading the posts and all ( but 1) references were 2 years old and older. They were also referring to a company, that bought the tooling (Series 1) from Shelby, called SSII. They were going to produce the 2 on the 1 chassis. Now Shelby is building them???, it gets more convaluted with each passing reference. Maybe that way they could get some of our stimulus money...GREAT.

I wouldn't be surprised if that was a motivation for them. apparently there were enough chassis's left over in Vegas to be "shovel-ready"

Amy,

Since the Series 2 cars are a conglomeration (or hybrid) of GM, Ford and Shelby parts as well as a hybrid of gasoline and electric power, would it be appropriate to call the car a "hybrid green hybrid"?

Also couldn't you recharge the batteries even faster with a one of your new light weight 351W V8 motors than a 4 cylinder.

OK I dont post often... but this screams BS to me!

Not so much of Shelby trying to unload the remaining Series 1/2's whatever as green cars with small 4cyl and battery's..... yeah.... good luck with that!

But the last part of that SCM article stated...

Ms Boylan announced that component Cobras produced by Shelby Automobiles will now accommodate Ford 4-cyl and Ford V6 engines only. "We must do our part in the "greening" of high performance sport cars. Other than the present in house orders, the V8 option will no longer be available. Shelby dealers will be instructed that they will not be able to install V8 engines in any Cobra."

So if I called up Shelby... ordered a CSX car... I can no longer get it with a V8 engine? You have got to be kidding?

Tell me this is an April Fools joke!

Tracer,
Thanks for the article. That explains the 'green' thing! A hybrid sport car, I guess the only thing close is the Tesla.

My friend did not say anything about the 4 & 6 cyl Cobras. Would that be another reason for stimulus money...
