Yes, it seems Allan does crave attention.
It's not worth pointing out the way-too-numerous inaccuracies with Allan's statements. Not enough time or bandwidth for that matter.
As for the AC Coupe, well, just because it's handbuilt by AC, aluminum and rare, doesn't make it desirable TO ME. It looks like it's attempting to be an Aston Martin DB series and, IMHO, has failed miserably.

I thought Allan's post was perfectly in line with this thread. Something a little off the wall, listed on ebay or recently sold. The comparison to a Kirkham is equally valid, in my opinion. Both are metal, both set the standards in their own way. Given a choice between the two, Kirkham or the AC it would be a challenge for me to pick only one. I suspect the AC will hold it's value over the years better than an equally equiped Kirkham will.
The MG Cobra on ebay? I'll pass on that one at any price! Interesting car though, worth a look...

I don't see any validity to Allen's statement at all. The topic didn't have anything to do with Kirkhams, or for that matter, any other brand of Cobra replica.
It's a car that has nothing to do with being a Cobra, other than the guy is advertising it as a Cobra.
Allen might as well have said, "A friend just bought this car, I would rather have this than any Cobra golf club", or "A friend just bought this car, I would rather have this than any Cobra CB radio".
BTW, that hideous thing has been on ebay for months now.

Power surge,
Allen compared the two cars b/c AC made the original Cobra. I thought it was a fair comparison. I also would be torn between the two. I guess I'm crazy as well. Although I think my car is worth more than $70,000

I understand he was comparing the KMP to a real AC built car. My point was, it has nothing to do with this topic.

I've seen this lister's (MrOldCar) mopars on my street. This guy must live nearby. He's got a blue/wh stripe Cobra replica in there somewhere too. Always rolling in/out cars.
And I'd rather have one of several KMP's to that dull tampon.

Sal,
Let me help you out so you understand:
1. KMP aluminum car with a V8, no original heritage costs 100k to build
2. Real AC car with aluminum body hand formed with a V8, purchased for less than 60k
Original topic unusual cars on eBay with cobra look.

Allan, if you'd said "I'd rather have this real AC built car for less than 60k than the car posted in the ebay link", or "you can buy a real AC built car for a few bucks more than the car in the ebay link", that would have made more sense to me. I don't understand where the KMP reference came from. This thread wasn't about Kirkhams, nor does the car in question have anything to do with a Kirkham, other they are both motor vehicles.
Here is how your post seemed to me:
Person A: I like Crunchberrys with a few slices of banana in the morning.
Person B: That's cool, I'm a fan of Capt'n Crunch myself.
Allan: I'd take this real AC built car over a KMP any day.
Sal: WTF???
Just seemed to me like an unrelated post out of nowhere.

All metal Shelby Cobra, thread title.
Ebay car, English metal.
Shelby, (body by Kirkham), metal.
Kirkham, metal.
AC, English metal.
Glass cars have no place in this thread.

I like that Aceca a LOT.
I'll leave it up to the viewers to decide who caused the above, but it wasn't Allan, IMHO.

Obviously there's a difference of opinion here. Allan could have mentioned an aluminum CSX4000 (bodies by Kirkham) for his comparison, or contrast as it were. He may have said his comment tongue-in-cheek or maybe he just wanted to knock a Forum sponsor that contributes heavily to our hobby. I dunno.
Personally, I would rather have a Griffith, built by TVR, rather than that AC or the car that originally started this thread, but then I wouldn't be making any sense, which is what Allan's comparison doesn't do as well.
I think Allan and I work in the same neighborhood, so anytime he would like to have lunch and discuss Kirkham values (last one sold at $89K + on eBay), wannabe Aston Martins, or good color palette choices for cars (opaque white?-that's like Sepia Brown on Porsches), he can just send me a PM. I love bench racing and talking cars 24/7.

Rod Knock,
Sounds good, I am in Union City. A great Indian place Dawaat on Alvarado Niles, they are closed on Mondays.

Not to drag this back up, but I contacted the seller a few days ago and finally just got a reply.
The car is steel, not aluminum.

Yes, steel would be expected since it's fairly clear the body is from a MG of some year model. MGA would be my guess.

Actually, MGAs have alloy doors and lids as I recall.

Sounds like the owner has opened himself up to a lawsuit.
The ad said "CAR IS A ALL ALUMINUM BODY ORIGINAL AC ACECA AEX 688."

I may be wrong, but I think Sal is talking about the car that started the thread, not your friend's AC. I was a little confused about who Sal contacted as well.
