Thumbs up Best CC Project Cars of All Time...

One of the advantages of CC is that you get to see some really exceptional cars being put together. Considerable photographs and dialogue enable even the weakest shade tree mechanic to learn a thing or two. Some are high end ($$$) builds, while others are all done within the confines of a two car (or smaller) garage.

Here are the more recent ones (in not any particular order) that get my "A+" mark for overall planning, execution, documentation and finished product:

1. fkemmerer and his ERA Cobra #753. Beautiful color, injected all-alum BB, active handling...a whole host of bells and whistles not commonly found on these cars. And it all was done with the best of materials and workmanship.

2. Great Asp's Superformance Cobra MKIII #2715. Beautiful (classic) color combo with a large bore FE and fuel injection (albeit with a lot of massaging to make it function as it should). For an SPF, hardly any expense sparred and it turned out great.

3. Bill D and his RCR GT40 MKI. Arguably the best garage built GT40 replica on the planet. Excellent craftsmanship and execution on a razor thin budget. You could spend hours on his web site looking at the progress on each facet of this wonderful car.

4. Fasterpatrick's Custom Cobra. Patrick is arguably the best pure fabricator on CC. What he does with steel, fiberglass and whatever material he lays his hands on is simply incredible workmanship. Where his car lacks within certain "originality" circles, it more than makes up for it in overall engineering, execution and craftsmanship.

5. Brent Mill's RCR GT MKIV. How this guy finds time to do this is beyond most of us. But his skills are evident and he takes the time to document each step for others to view. This car is being done right.

6. The Billet Kirkham Cobra. Simply wow. This car needs no introduction and the build thread had arguably the most photos/videos to support the entire process. Built with lots of unobtainium, too.

Those are the six that I can recall off the top of my head. Thank you to all the owners for sharing their builds, occasionally making us envious, but more importantly contributing to the hobby and educating us all on the right way to proceed with large projects.

Please add some others that I may have overlooked (i.e. I KNOW there are some fantastic "regular" Kirkham builds out there that I overlooked...just can't recall them at the moment).

Regards,

-Dean
