Another hidden cost that I missed was sales tax on the engine, trans and car that NJ wanted when I went to register it. It turned out to be quite a large figure that hurt to explain to the wife

I know what you mean. I had to write that check from my secret Swiss bank account slush fund so my wife wouldn't have a coronary.

Those Swiss bank accounts aren't so secret anymore. The IRS has access now.

See, this is why you should have bought a "used cobra"

Truer words never written. Unless you are dying to build one, I'd be buying a used one with the body/interior looks and power you want and making mods as you go.

I agree about how the Creep in cost goes. Also, I have looked and adding in all costs, transport, taxes, install everything.
SPF- with Strips (SPF changing for strips), glove box, CC header/side pipes, 17 " tire/rim upgrade, Sun Visor Assb, SS quick jacks. Total is about 46,500.00
BDR - Tonneau Cover, glovebox, CC headers and pipes, 17" tire/rim upgrade, Visor Assb, SS quick jacks. come standard standard on BDR. Total is about 36000.00.
There would be a transport change for the BDR, I'm guessing about 1500.00. So the differerence between the SPF and the BDR is about 9000.00, not including tax.
Add in BDR special right now for a Roush 427R or 427SRCW and TKO 600 installed with QT bell housing for 52450.00. Take the same motor and trans install for the SPF and your at 68125.00, that's a difference of almost 16K. The tax savings on the 16K difference is 1240.00. So the total savings including tax is almost 17K
So there you have it, both cars set up the way I want. This is in no way trying to start anything with owners of both cars, this is just the financial facts. The question is, is the SPF worth the additional 17K? I should also state that the prices I got were from the SPF dealer and not sure if they have special bundle pricing from time to time or not. It would be great if they did, competition is always welcome

Craig, unless you can honestly say that the $17k is really nothing more than a number on a piece of paper to you, and that it will truthfully have no impact one way or another in you, or your heirs' lives, then I would save the $17k and go with the cheaper car.

Craig, these are very different cars. The design is different, the body is different and the heritage of each company is different. If you can see those and monetize them, then you have your answer. If you don't see any difference in those things, then save the $17k. Some people look at Cobras and they all look the same. Others see and know the differences and that's the basis for whatever they ultimately buy.

I know the debates in regards to correctness, resale etc...They are going to be different from person to person, we all know that. What's important to me might not be so important to someone else. But 17K pill is a little hard to swallow, especially if you are not really concerned with correctness. Let's face it, either car you get you are going to be hard pressed to break even on the resale side
I have emailed Jay from Vintage, he is looking into some stuff for me. Great guy.
I have not talked to KC about his turnkey deals, but I have read a bunch of stuff regarding them and not sure if he is still involved with it or not. Seemed like a lot of headaches for him and misunderstandings, we will just leave it at that.

Invest a few minutes, and check with Keith. He is working with a completely different dealer than he was a few years back. Apples and oranges! You won't go wrong with the deal Keith is working now.
You could always go directly to the dealer Keith is working with, and talk to him as well.

He'll save a heck of a lot more money if he would just buy my BMW 328i Convertible. It kinda looks like a Cobra, it's Avus Blue, and I'll paint the white stripes on it. Doesn't it have the same suspension and brakes?

Craig,
What kind of pricing are you seeing for installs? At the time, Stephen's price was very competitive and there was absolutely no add on charges that caused the install price to creep up.

The bundle price, install is included, so not sure on that. If I was to have everything delivered to me and have it installed locally, I have received prices ranging from 2200.00-3600.00 depending who you go to. That is a complete install of motor and tranny, set up, tuned, aligned and road tested.
