This is what I came up with for one of my retrofit chassis brackets. It is 1/4" thick on the brackets and the reinforcing gussets.

This is what it looked like all welded in. Don't you love overhead welding

Nice piece and really nice work but does the AR bar slide in and out easily? (Not that it's service frequently...)
