Default Fire Extinguisher / Suppression System

Would anyone want to weigh in on suggestions on a fire extinguisher, or suppression system that would be well suited for a cobra?

Size, Quantity, Type, etc.

Thanks,

Joe

I have a Halon system for my ERA. I mounted the tank in the trunk, horizontally and perpendicular to the length of the vehicle (as recommended). I routed copper line through the trunk, along the frame and into the cockpit via the engine compartment. I bought extra nozzles, and set up two sprayers under the hood and two that spray down into the footwells. The pull cable is mounted just under the dash, within reach when I'm fully belted in.

A suppression system just buys you some time to get out of the vehicle in the event of a fire. You should back it up with a good hand-held extinguisher.

Off the top of my head I cannot remember the brand. Firesafe? Safecraft? Anyhow, I have a 5 lbs bottle of Halon and a handheld extinquisher. Just seemed like a good idea with such an expensive toy.

Do a search for "halon" or "fire suppression" on www.summitracing.com. That'll get you started.

Thanks for the info DD. I was thinking of two bottles, one behind the E-brake, and another in the truck, but when I started researching, I started to wonder how much (lbs) should I get, and what type. Thanks again. Look like this will be a $500 or so insurance plan : )

Joe:

Give Dan List at SPA Technique (www.SPATechnique.com) a call. He'll help you with all the details of a fire supression system including type and size of system.
