Default 2010 SVRA Sebring Vintage Race - Olthoff fastes lap in class

Saw this article with pics in Sports Car Digest about SVRA Sebring Race. Dennis Olthoff recorded the fastest lap in the Vintage Race Group.

2010 SVRA Sebring Vintage Race Group Results
1. Dennis Olthoff, 1966/2005 Ford GT40 Mk II, Mt. Ulla, NC (Fastest lap of 2:20.687)

I wasn't aware of the fact that you could run a 1966/2005 SPF GT40 in an SVRA event.

"The “Vintage Group” included cars manufactured and prepared to 1969 and earlier racing specifications"

Some of the vintage groups have realized that without "continuation" cars the fields will continue to shrink. As many cars are now "too valuable" to race, the SPF GT40 has been accepted by some of the vintage orginizations.

The SPF GT40 "R" is allowed in HSR and will be accepted into some other sanctioning groups soon. SVRA has accepted Dennis' MK II and I would expect other orginizers do do so also.

Empty race fields do not spectators attract........

That's great! Thanks for the additional info. Now, if I win the lottery I'll go vintage racing in a GT40.
