Where to have DVSF open track?
There are 3 tracks available to stage an open track event in conjunction with the trip to DVSFIII. Each has it's +/-'s. I welcome all posts with your opinions, whether you would come to such an event or not. I ask, PLEASE DO NOT VOTE UNLESS YOU HAVE SERIOUS INTENTIONS OF SIGNING UP!!! I hope to use the poll data to determine which venue to pursue.
MID OHIO: Nearest to Columbus, approx 1 hour north. Biggest track, very fast, world class facility. Home of the SCCA Runoffs, CART events, etc. As of now, available on Monday, June 23. Est cost to rent for the day, $6000-7000, thus VERY Pricey. Would be better if another club/organization took the date and we filled in some of their spots. See
www.midohio.com for track details.
NELSON LEDGES: 2 1/2 - 3 hours northeast, between Akron and Youngstown. Decent layout, older facility with some recent improvements to the track. Holds SCCA events and bike races. Available on Friday, June 20 for "Fun Days" event organized by the track management. Limited instruction available for novices. Priced right at $100/driver. See
www.fastone.com for track/fundays info.
BEAVER RUN: 4+ hours northeast from Columbus, about 1 hour east of Nelson Ledges off I-76. Brand new facility, lots of runoff, interesting layout, used by several magazines recently for track testing. Available for Thursday June 19 if we rent it, otherwise taken by another private event we can't join. Cost about $5000 for the day. See
www.beaverun.com for track info.
Any other tracks you know of?
Don
PLEASE NOTE: This is NOT part of the DVSF event!!! I am trying to put together open track time to coincide WITH DVSF for those of us who would rather run than show. Call it a bit more incentive to be there. It also allows us tracksters an excuse for the long tow.
