Talking Finally gave Sonny a deposit....

Hi everybody!!!! Finally gave Sonny a deposit for Phase I of his quick start program. What a great idea....I couldn't see shelling out the money (that I don't have right now) for the whole kit just to let it sit in my garage while I get the chassis ready for the body. Spent quite a bit of time on the phone with Sonny and Joe, they were extremely helpful. I've been looking at this forum for several months and love all the information everyone shares with each other.........thanks in advance for all of the help (I'm sure) you guys will be sharing as I build my kit.

I used to substitute teach in Cromwell about 10 years ago. I'm in Hamden. I did the quick start program too, you can get the chassis ready for the body without having it taking us space. Good luck with your build.

Default Thanks for all the well wishes..........

Thanks for all the well wishes everyone..........wakeen_19...which school did you sub at? I'm about 1/4 mile from the high school. What stage of the build are you at? Have you seen any of there finished gel coat bodies. I'm concidering having mine done so all I need to do if scuff, paint the stripes and clear coat it all. Anyone else have an opinion?

This is the gel coat body direct from A&C. I've had mine on the road 10 years and it still looks great.

Gel Coat, Mustang Chrome Yellow, Picked up body in 2001.
Still looks great, most people think it's paint. Best decision if dollars at the time are short for the build. Can always get it painted later.
Only drawback, no stripes and no metalflak colors.

I used to sub at the high school and middle school, actually, my mom taught Spanish there for about 20 years. I have heard great things about the gel coat. If you go that route you will be satisfied. Right now I am working on the rolling chasis. Suspension is done, I just have the drive train, I've got a 289 that needs a rebuild but gotta wait until my wife give me my allowance for that to be done.

Congratulations..........

In case you are not aware, the Thread on CT Composite ( Kit car ) requirements, documentation, inspection, emissions, and registration. While lengthy, it will provide most of the needed info.

The most recent update being model year registration, but still as a Composite, have not heard of any recent updates regarding implementation.

Any major "pains in the butt" you`ve come across so far?
Past posts in this sub forum have made mention that mounting the doors is a real P.I.T.A.

The only issue I had was the need to remove some material on the inside of the drivers side door lip otherwise it would rub on the front fender when the door is opened up all the way. I covered the fender with 3 layers of plastic tape to protect it while I sanded the back of the door lip with 80, 120, 220, 400 and then 600 grit wet paper. I did this while holding the door almost opened completely. I took extra care to make sure I didn't sand any area that would be visible when the door is closed. Other than that I am very pleased with the A & C kit.

That's a nice looking carb setup you have there.
You've been on a long road by the look of it. How far off are you from finishing the car?

Cheers,
Glen
