I find this all really amusing.

Why have a fast car if you don't use the "fastness"?

The same rational thought process that says driving spirited on the streets is so unsafe that it should never be done should also tell most of the folks here that they shouldn't even have a car like this unless it is used only on the track. Only a couple of folks (John McMahon is one) who have piped-in that racing should only occur on the track have ever been on a track. I can assure all here that Concobras car is not suitable for track use with those BFG tires (as an aside - his cobra would be safer racing on the street on good, sticky tires than racing on the track with those dangerous shoes) and has probably never been to a track. No offense Con, just trying to make a point.

So, why does he or others have a car capable of going fast? It is only rational thought process that leads one to the conclusion that fast driving should only be done at the track, based on the possible ramifications. People that rational should also be compelled to reason to themselves that a car with multi-hundred horsepower is only suited for track use (the only logical conclusion if fast street driving is forbidden). Therefore, if they are not going to use it on the track, there is no reason to have it. Rational? Seems so to me... I understand Concobra and other may just "like" the idea of the power, and not be planning to ever use it, but it is certainly not logical to do so just because you "like" it.

So, if logic and reason rule your psyche to the point you can never depress the loud pedal appreciably (unless on the track, but then you don't go to the track), then your logic and reason must be primary drivers in your life and I do not see how an illogical car like a cobra can be reconciled at the same time in your mind.

I contend the very logical admoishment of folks who do depress the loud pedal on the street is inconsistent with the illogical decision to own a cobra.

BTW, I track my car on Toyo R888s (I keep em on for the street also - best way to stay safe) and also occasionally stomp the crap out of a mustang, vette, GTO, camaro, chevelle, on the street if they really need it!

Bites makes a very good point, where is the logic? This is even born out by some posters in their own writings. For instance, Zilla writes:

And yet in his own tag line he has "Blown 1969 Mustang Fastback Pro-Street" which is apparently an 8-71 Blown 567 Boss, Competition C6, 3.70 locker and a Full cage. Doesn't sound like any kind of "street" car to me. It sounds BADASSSSSS!!!!! Makes my genitals swell! Zilla, don't get me wrong man, you were just the most convenient example of which there are many on this forum. In fact looking at your sig line "Of the troops, for the troops" I imagine that we are cut from the same cloth. The point is that casting stones, like con and zilla have, should make you question the longevity of your own glass walls. Or at least the decision to own a high performance car.
