Concobra,
I would agree that "street racing" can be dangerous, but when done in an area without other cars around and lack of "things" to hit...really what is the big deal? Obviosly, don't go racing down through the top of 4th gear in a crowded area, but every time someone mentiones a streetrace, is it bad?
The track... I think we have all been to the track and enjoy racing there the because you get to find out what the car really runs, and we hit walls instead of telephone poles. However unless at the track at a group event, I highly doubt you line up against that KR GT500, most likely it is against an open header 12 second car that really should have mufflers and is about as much fun racing against as a lawnmower.
Sometimes that GSXR 750 or the vette or what ever pulls up next to you on the street, it's clear and you just gotta find out, at least through a couple of gears.

Cobras are Bad @ss cars, and the guys that gravitate toward them are usually Bad Boys
to a certain extent. Otherwise, why would we be interested in Cobras in the first place? Go buy a Prius.
I am an extremely honest and trustworthy person. If I tell someone I will do something I do it.
I will bet that most of us have other fast cars too. Cars for different purposes. Fast Purposes.
So, when it comes to traffic laws, for the most part...................I just can't deal.
Especially when it comes @ssholes riding the left lane, holding up traffic. I am coming around. Period.
My attorney breaks my stones. He says "JB, when you take your car in for service, what do you tell him? Check the oil and change the horn" LOL
As far as street racing goes, I have been doing it forever. Racing in the rain is my favorite, but any road surface will do. I do not believe I take uncalculated risks however. I choose and practice my "tracks" carefully.
I could fly a plane by the time I was 17, so when I got out of the plane and into a car, it was like "step into my parlor"
ps.
I didn't write this. LOL

concobra,
X2!
I've shared the job of scraping up the results of folks thinking "this car can make me into a driver" more than once...
It happens on the track too BTW.

Street racing has been the scourge of the earth or the best she has ever run for some time. Nothing of any value is going to come from pissing on each other shoes. Some will say things hiding behind a screen while some would grab the other by the throat but tickets are expensive and flying right now sucks.

I agree that a bit of spirited street driving is fun...when your in a good place for it. But I have to say Con makes some good points and here is why. I know I have nothing to prove on the road but it's the kid in the car next to me that does. They all want to tell their friends they beat a Cobra. If you want to be faster-stupider, that's fine you can have it. I realize street racing has been around since before cars were invented, but there have been too many times a young life has ended or been crippled by it. I say the challenge should be settled at the track, not the streets.

I find this all really amusing.
Why have a fast car if you don't use the "fastness"?
The same rational thought process that says driving spirited on the streets is so unsafe that it should never be done should also tell most of the folks here that they shouldn't even have a car like this unless it is used only on the track. Only a couple of folks (John McMahon is one) who have piped-in that racing should only occur on the track have ever been on a track. I can assure all here that Concobras car is not suitable for track use with those BFG tires (as an aside - his cobra would be safer racing on the street on good, sticky tires than racing on the track with those dangerous shoes) and has probably never been to a track. No offense Con, just trying to make a point.
So, why does he or others have a car capable of going fast? It is only rational thought process that leads one to the conclusion that fast driving should only be done at the track, based on the possible ramifications. People that rational should also be compelled to reason to themselves that a car with multi-hundred horsepower is only suited for track use (the only logical conclusion if fast street driving is forbidden). Therefore, if they are not going to use it on the track, there is no reason to have it. Rational? Seems so to me... I understand Concobra and other may just "like" the idea of the power, and not be planning to ever use it, but it is certainly not logical to do so just because you "like" it.
So, if logic and reason rule your psyche to the point you can never depress the loud pedal appreciably (unless on the track, but then you don't go to the track), then your logic and reason must be primary drivers in your life and I do not see how an illogical car like a cobra can be reconciled at the same time in your mind.
I contend the very logical admoishment of folks who do depress the loud pedal on the street is inconsistent with the illogical decision to own a cobra.
BTW, I track my car on Toyo R888s (I keep em on for the street also - best way to stay safe) and also occasionally stomp the crap out of a mustang, vette, GTO, camaro, chevelle, on the street if they really need it!

Hey Don, I hate to tell you but 4 miles off at 60 is not very acceptable. The next time that you are in Tucson with the car look up "TJ's Speedometer. He's very good and at a fair price.

I agree with concobra. It's real simple, street racing is illegal. Those that do it are idiots & those that admit to it in public internet forums are even bigger idiots.

Open Invitation to DWRAT and Danr55 and all of the Phoenix Cobras. Bring it on down to Tucson for a run to Arivaca, any time. Then we'll find out who has the quickest Cobra and the best driving skills over a 23 mile run.

Oh Danr,
How about $100.00 cash says I can take you in the 1/4 mile or 1/8 mile.
I'm not into racing a 20 mile run on any hill.
Lets do it legal at a local track like Speed World.
I'm sure others will want to see you whip my but and if you can you will get paid for it.
