Default Anything can happen at Barrett Jackson

For that car at that price to be considered a bargain anywhere outside of the buyer's mind, he or she would also have to be someone who does not know that they could have a far more valuable (desirable?) Kirkham with a Keith Craft powerplant -and an automatic- for similar money. Or a similar fiberglass car for far less.

Remember that even the Tin Man, with all of his excitement and enthusiasm for that car, admitted he would have done it differently had he known then what he discovered afterwards.

But then, I suppose once the buyer thinks it's a deal for his money, that's all that really matters. If such a person actually exists, the hyped up atmosphere at BJ is as good a place as any to find him. For John's sake I hope he salvages as much of his investment as possible.

... and you might prove to be 100% correct. And, of course, numbers are always negotiable, so that may come in to play as well. AND, there's always the small, outside chance that the car won't sell at all and, coupled with some time, John might reconsider it all and take it back for one more try.

(I'm taking the bait Paddy ) Something in the back of my mind tells me that would be the least desirable outcome for Tin Man, sad as it may sound. I'm convinced getting rid of that car is the best and safest move he's made in this entire fiasco.

Who knows - If the BJ auctioneers are persuaded to take a positive shine to the car and really hype it up as a whizbang techno-Cobra instead of ushering it through unceremoniously as a fake, the numbers could surprise us all.

FYI - the car is at Barrett simply as a display...the car is NOT being put across the auction block.

I'm sure attending the event live must be a lot of fun and infinitely better than the TV coverage, which is just dreadful. Even with DVR the amount and length of commercials is staggering, and way to much of the coverage was the SPEED commentators blithering, they must believe THEY are the show, not the auction itself. And then they go back to the crap about how these cars are coming back as good investments..........its a hobby you dillweeds!!!! They seemed to cover Camaros, Mustangs, Chevelles, Corvettes, tri-fives and everything else we've seen a thousand times before, and very little else. Where's the unique and unusual? Oh yah, that segment was used for the many many NASCAR promotional segments (aaargh....). I for one am through either recording or watching any BJ event anymore. It just isn't interesting or entertaining.

Its better in person, the weather is great, the cars are cool, the food is awesome, and there are so many beutiful women, of course they follow money, on tv you have to keep the remote close to chage back and forth, it can be quite long.

Get a peek at Tin Man's car from this post in the Superformance forum:

I like that rollbar (among other things).

It's embarrassing to watch Justin Bell brought down to the level of booth babe.

Sad indeed...Matt Stone is the most annoying, pontificating phony...cars are not "pieces" ....that term is reserved for other things... I tried to buy a car from them, and Steve Davis kept trying to tell me what I wanted...that guy is a jerk.....well, that is my rant for the day...sorry

I've watched all DVR'd now except Saturday. Maybe that was my mistake, I FF'd through cleavage (unforgivable sin) so maybe I will tone down my rant if I rearrange my priorities
