Default Firebird Tonight 09/21/12

Just thought I'd put it out there that I'm going out to Firebird drags tonight with my Cobra and the wife's '10 Challenger. We're just gonna have some fun, nothing serious.

If anyone is looking for something to do, come on by and make a few passes.

E. hope you get your beast into the 10s again. F'Bird is sometimes pretty stingy with the track prep. See you tomorrow?

Yeah Karl, I don't expect earth shattering times. Firebird doesn't do a lot of track prep and my tires are three or four years old... I really just need a place to hit WOT in second and third to do some EFI datalogging and tuning. Plus the wife wants to run her Challenger

And yes, see you tomorrow. I have a date with the Mesa dump in the morning, then I'll call you.

Karl
You taking the car? Shouldn't overheat in a 1/4 mile.

Well,

I ended up not going... Sorry for the false advertising, but when I got home on Friday night and went to pull the Cobra into the shop while I loaded the trailer, I found a big puddle of oil on the floor.

Long story short, I had dragged a small hole in the oil pan. Fortunately had only lost maybe a quart, so I didn't hurt the engine, but now I have to remove the pan and weld it up.

In my car I normally have to remove the engine to get the pan off. In the past few years, this would make the second time pulling the engine to remove the pan, so I am going to cut the cross-member out of the frame and either make it a bolt-in, or re-route the cross member a couple inches forward in a C-shape and weld it back in. Either route is less work than pulling the engine and this way, I can pull the pan in the future anytime I need to... Its always something!
