The 28-12-15 MT SR's may be to big I think.
There the same height as the factory 275-60-15 and the same width as a 295-50-15.
I think they might rub on the outer edges???

Depends a bunch on your wheel offset and your fender profile . I run 325.50.15s on the rear and I don't have any interference.

I had MT S/R's on my car (rear) and really liked them but I only got about 13K miles out of them. So I decided to go with more of a "street" tire. I was going to go with the MT S/T then I found out Mickey Thompson is owned by Cooper. One way you may be able to confirm your suspicion that the tires are the same, with only a different label, is to compare the Uniform Tire Quality Grading (UTQG) of the two. These are the Treadwear (number), Traction (letter), and Temperature (letter) ratings on the sidewall. While these may not tell you anything specific about the sidewall stiffness, if they are identical on the two tires, and made by the same manufacturer, then chances are, they are indeed the same tire.

Some other comparators that you should be able to find on the tires or on website information (Tire Rack, Discount Tire, or mfg.) are where they are made, the maximum load, maximum pressure, and the number of plies in the tread and sidewall. This may also give you an indication of sidewall stiffness. I haven’t researched this to say for sure, but I would think if a tire is rated for a heavier load, and of course if a sidewall has more plies, it should be stiffer.

But again, if ALL of these parameters of these two tires are identical, and they are made by the same manufacturer, it may indeed confirm your suspicions…..and be cheaper than a $450 experiment. And as further confirmation, before spending the money with the uncertainty, call or email Cooper and MT and ask them if they are all the same company, and if the tires you are interested in are the same tire. Again, cheaper than a $450 experiment.

I agree with Blown871. depends on your use. strictly street, then I don't think you need super sticky tires. For 14 years I have been using the BFG's. Radial TA's. Suit me just fine. I don't race and almost no spirited driving no runs over 100 MPH.

If you go with the Mickey Thompson SR, you need the 26x10 and 26x12 tires (part number 6653 and 6654).

The 26X12 tires are 1" shorter then the 295-50-15 tires which are 1" shorter then the stockers.
I'm just going to wait until I can measure the fender clearance.
I really don't want a short tire if I can get away with the taller tire.

Believe it or not you already slowed me way down a few years back.

That'll change. On the SPF when using the SR tires Craig is right. 26X12 rear and 26X10 front. My choice is the ST 295/50 rear and 255/60 front. Looks right. Ride height can be adjusted.

I have used 18" Sumo's, Mich.. PS2's and now Bridgestone's Potenas. They are all fine on the street until you hit 10,000 miles. On the track all tires are crap unless you go to a track tire.

yes.. not cheap.
.. but again.. get what tire will make YOU happy. It is supposedly a performance car.. so throw some performance tires on it and enjoy!! And NO.. performance tires don't last. Accept that and smile every mile and every turn.
