Default Penske Museum Cars & Coffee

Just a reminder for Saturday about 7am to perhaps 9am. Free coffee so you know Robert will be there (if he gets his clutch MC & SC parts.)

Free coffee... I'll be there, whether my car is broken, or not I'll just show up in my sweet old F350 farm truck.

Actually- the car is all back together. The Fedex dude showed up with my parts this morning about 10am. I just need my assistant pedal-pusher to get home from roller skating, so I can bleed the clutch, and I should be ready for a test drive...

Clutch is back together, and test drive went well.

I'm planning to be at Penske by 7:00

Sorry I couldn't make it, looks like you had a very good turnout this morning. Great weather for it too. Love the lineup, great picture, nothing looks better than a group of Cobra's!

I've been busy ripping and tearing. Pulled my dash to correct a couple lighting issues and to install my new Speed hut GPS speedometer. Finally had enough of my SW unit. Glad you had a good turn out.

Lighting issues? Let's talk. I have no dash lights. I also want to connect a cigarette lighter for phone charging. Schematic says there are already power and ground wires for it. Looks like a PITA to pull the dash.

Robert did have his car there (it is all the way down at the far end of the lineup). It looks GREAT and runs nice too....

I was there, with my hood open, and you missed it..!!!

Actually, my hood was open because I was checking my replacement Master and Slave cylnders to make sure there were no leaks around the fittings.

and, there weren't

I guess that make sense considering what you made 100% clear in the past about cars at shows with open hoods.

Hey Karl, how hard is it to pull the dash? Did you have to take the steering wheel off in order to get to the speedometer?

I pulled the steering wheel to have more room to work. Wanted to get the steering column out of the way, but will need to talk to Peter, on Monday. According to the build manual, I was doing it right, but didn't have any luck.I did loosen the clamp so I could move the column up and down and pulled the screws/bolts so the dash would drop enough to let me get at stuff. Not all that bad, but maybe getting the screws/bolts back in might be tough. I'll find out tomorrow. Was able to run the Speedo GPS antenna up through the defrosted vent, so it'll hardly be noticeable. Wiring is all done but hooking up a constant hot and a keyed hot. Speedo looks good and has a lifetime warranty.

I have to retrieve my brother-in-law from a nursing home between about 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM, but if you need a second pair of hands to hold something, call me. -Ron

Thanks Karl, I was thinking of changing the dash to the FIA style but may have to rethink that if you are having trouble with the steering wheel. I'm not sure I want to go to all the trouble when the street dash works just fine. I'll talk to you about your experience later tho. I looked at the speedometer you are putting in and it really looks good, should be really nice when you get it installed, no more guessing how fast you are really going.

With my SW speedo, I just didn't know if I was doing 120 or 110? The new one will also capture high speed, but can easily be reset.

I assume it is the Cobra style as shown on the web site, if so it will look like the other SW gauges in the dash, very nice and you will be able to know for sure you are going 120.
