Danr, Its not THE sonic that Ron initially mentioned, its A sonic on way East McKellips. I think their prices on milk shakes drop 50% after 8. Jones-zing for a chocolate double malt, I am, I am.

I'm surprised that that alone, doesn't get Bob Boberg to come out. ha

It's between Mesa Drive & Horne on McKellips, south side. Exit the 202 at either Country Club or Gilbert Road.

Should be cooled off nicely by 9. It was 62° at 5 this morning when I walked the big dog. Won't be seeing that again for a while.

I still haven't got my order. It didn't occur to me that we'd need to bring our own ice cream.

yeah, it was a great idea doing an after-dark ice cream meetup, but we (I) sure picked the wrong Sonic drive-in location...

Great plan, flawed execution...

BTW, Keith- I'm entering a motion to the entire group that you should have to wear that colorful shirt every time we all meet up somewhere...

So I swayed your usual good judgement with my glow in the dark Cobra shirt

I enjoyed the outing too, great idea , but I vote for a different location next time, one where we don't need to bring our own ice cream. And by the way thanks for the tomatoes they will be appreciated on our salad tonight.

WHO'S G-D'd idea was that place, ANYWAY?

Was an excellent idea to get out for an evening drive. Was good to see that Scottie, Ron and Joanne, GARY, GARY, GARY and Vikki, Danr, and Keith came out of their air conditioned comfort.

Besides the s l o w service, I was greatly disappointed with the milk shake. They used a mix, rather than ice cream, milk, and chocolate malt. Even Wendy's is better and that's not a compliment for either.

Let's do it again, maybe a Monday or Thursday night. A Culver's or a Freddie's would both be good choices for top quality frozen custard ice cream....and I know my ice cream!

Sure was nice temp for driving. Went across the reservation and must have been 15 degrees cooler on the way home. At least you got Vikki right Carl !!!

I searched for both Culvers and Freddy's in the area where we were and there weren't any. There's one of each a bit farther south off the US60 around Country Club. Does anyone know of an ice cream shop in south Scottsdale? There was some kind of an ice cream place at Tempe Marketplace, but it's kind of a crappy parking lot.

Ok, I pulled up a Google map of the entire valley, and drew a line between Bob Broberg's neighborhood (BFE-Northwest), Ron Stein's neighborhood (BFE-FarEast), Keith Barngrover's neighborhood (BFE-Northeast) and my own neighborhood (BFE-Southeast)

Here's what is smack-dab in the middle- equal distance for all the outliers in the group:

Dairy Queen: 4140 E Thomas Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85018

open weekdays until 10:30pm, Fri-Sat until 11pm
