Default Finally

Well, after 30+ tries, I have finally talked with the manager of the West Wind Drive In, Travis. He said we will be welcomed by his theater managers, either Maria or Harley and given 15 spaces in our own square so we can park together. He also said we should arrive together at 4:30 to insure our placement of “valuable” cars. They are looking forward to our arrival. No other car clubs have asked for special treatment. Travis said they normally do not open the movie parking until 5pm but will make exception for us at 4:30.
This means we must leave Scotty’s home no later than 4pm so our 2:30pm BBQ arrival would be more predictable at 2pm just to be safe. Everyone should know where we are going because the drive from Scotty’s to the drive in is FULL of stoplights via Lincoln and Glendale Ave. Google says 36 minutes. Drive in entry is on 55th Ave south of Bethany Home. Bring jackets, chairs, FM radio, bluetooth speakers for your phone. They do of course have a concession stand and rest rooms.
See you Saturday.

I wish I could attend with you guys!! Sitting here in PA. in 30 degree weather and having my Cobra under cover for the winter prohibits any chance of driving it to the drive-in (if it's still open).
I think I'll have to wait until it's in the theater.
Have fun you guys!! Keep us posted on what you think (of both the BBQ and the movie).

Amber and I can’t make the BBQ but will be at the drive-in at 4:30. See you there.

Default Headcount

Tough to guess but by my estimate headcount is now 28 to movie. Do not have accurate number of cobras nor how many are attending BBQ first.
THIS IS GOING TO BE AN EVENT!
Drive in is expecting 15 cobras but since we will be first, the number can rise safely.
Thanks for suggesting this Scotty.
I will offer to help pay for your BBQ expenses. As will everyone else. This is a generous bunch.

A generous bunch? Anyone have an idea who he is talking about?

We could be a bit late to the BBQ, but we eat fast.

10 cobras at Scotty's house and ended up with 15 cobras at the drive in. More details tomorrow.
Unique event.

A god movie but should be renamed The Ken Miles Story.

What time for left overs today. I am sure all of us want to chip in for the barbecue. Especially the ribs. Thanks for hosting.

Default Event Details

Thanks again to Scotty for this event and offering his home and food for us. We had 10 cars show up at Scott & Sandy’s home.
Ron, Scot, Gary, Mike, Karl, Keith, Dan, Ralphie, 17 people in all joined us there for some great ribs, chicken, steak, and dessert. WOW! Full! See photo.

All of us drove across town on Lincoln, then Glendale Aves through numerous stoplights. No good way to get there. Ralphie went elsewhere from prior commitment and the rest of us joined 3 more cobras waiting for us at the drive in entrance, including Bill, Tim and another cobra. Got a great welcome from management and escorted to our spots by Harley in a golf cart. Theater lot was not crowded and we had choice of parking. 3 more cobras drove in to join us, Mike, Ryan and Giovanni. 15 cobras just as predicted and 27 people.
Almost everyone brought lawn chairs and fortunately a few of us brought battery powered radios to provide the audio movie portion. None of us could get the broadcast on their phones. Worked out fine. See photo.

Movie was OK. Cobras did not play much of a part. That part of Shelby’s life and cobra racing history was just glanced over. Movie was mostly about Ken Miles, the GT40 and support from Shelby and Ford.
A unique event. Thanks to all who joined us.

A MOST EXCELLENT TIME! My god, even Mister Bill showed up. I was really disappointed that our phone FM radio apps wouldn't pick up the theater's FM broadcast, since I hear so much better through ear pods, but the many raidos projected the sound well enough for most people, just fine. The movie was actually much more about the action rather than the dialog....I think.
My sweetness and I thoroughly enjoyed the evening thank Mr. and Mrs. Siggins for the great food and hospitality.

Had a great time, thank you Sandy and Scott for the great BBQ. Even though the movie didn't cover Cobra's to a great extent I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and the company.

Given the likely success of Ford -v- Ferrari, maybe we'll get a video adaptation of The Cobra Story, or better yet, Mike Shoen's The Cobra / Ferrari Wars.

Thanks Scotty and Sandy! What a perfect way and place to meet up!

For those that don't know, going to the drive in was NNiets original idea, pretty soon after the movie was announced. He deserves an ATTABOY for coming up with a great idea.

See, he does use his noggin for things other than writing porn....

Wish I could have made it over for the food and the movie. Had to take care of some stuff at my dads house. Looks like it was a great time.
