Default What makes a REAL Cobra?

This is a cool 15 minute video by Hagerty and Colin Comer on what makes a real 66 Shelby 427 Cobra. I learned some info new to me.

No, we've dealt with this before. Our new rule is that if you manage to spend $250k on your Cobra build then it is deemed to be real.

Yep - and once I addded up all costs, including food, fuel, time spent fixing, loss of productivity, detailing, testing (driving) and storage (in my garage); my former replica became a barn find overnight.

"... and if it doesn't make you feel alive...you're probably not".

That is the essence of a Cobra.

The title of the video says it all when it refers to a " Real Cobra". In my eyes if it's not one of the originals from the 60's, it's not a Cobra. I don't car how much you paid for it or what the manufacturer advertises it as. Call it what you like, Replica, Continuation, Kit or whatever. Call it by the manufacturer Kirkham, Superformance, Era or Backdraft and that will be more accurate. A lot of people kid them self with the Cobra Moniker. Do a search on Cobra Car and it will not lead you directly to anything but the original. Everything else will be listed as a copy. Mention you have a Cobra and most people will think it's a Mustang.

Here in Aus., it's assumed that it's an "old MG or something"

Nice video. While a Tesla has a faster 0-60, I could care less. This is such fun just to drive. It’s nice and simple, reminds me of choppers I have owned. It puts you in the wind, no technical distractions. Creature comforts? Snort…who needs those with the pipes singing their song, and the car buzzing along? Plus, easier on my body, and I don’t have to kickstart the beast. My wife loves it and is always ready to go somewhere too. Life is GOOD!

Default Older Supercar

I've had a rare opportunity to keep company with a older "Supercar" lately. This car is from 2006 have been clocked at a True 202MPH, 0-60 2.89sec. 500HP, will pull 1.2g's on street tires, has roll up windows, AC, Radio. I could easily drive it to Az. to see the boys there, and get 30MPG. Nothing I don't like about this Supercar, "except", it does nothing like a Cobra, So No Drama, or noise, smoke, rattles, just a boring car compared to our Cobras. That pretty much sums up a Cobra ownership, I believe we put up a with lot (And love it) to get our Cobra fix . By the way this is that car, Anybody ever spent time with one?? TommyRot.

You must have posted in the middle of the night (USA time). That's when the Aussies take over the forum and turn everything upside down so it looks right for them.

P.S. The downforce on that car is amazing.

Tom, I have always wanted that Ultima GTR on my Xbox Forza 5 game but can't buy it without joining and paying a membership. My favorite racecar back in the original Xbox days. Thanks for the memories. Other favorite was Lance Reventlow's Scarab from back in 1958 built with Phil Remington before Cobra days.

Pictures taken with mobile devices (cell phones, tablets) record orientation in metadata. Forums strip metadata so the original orientation is used. Fixing the orientation on the phone only changes the metadata so the image will still be wrong. To fix it open it on Windows and fix the orientation then save the updated image then post the copy.

Some advanced mobile photo editing apps can also fix it properly.
