My first job in the automotive field was at a body shop. Two brothers had this really great shop and some street rods that they built. I was pumped!! Turns out one brother restored antique carriages - I spent the summer sanding old wagon wheels down to bare wood by hand. The next jobs were a lot better: I had a Jag owner tip me $5.00 (in the mid 60's) because I tightened his lug nuts with a torque wrench in the correct sequence.
Good luck,
Bill
