Mike, I was soaked. Above 65 mph I could see and stayed pretty dry. The cobra had about an inch of water in it when I got home. Thanks, it was fun while it lasted. Lots of nice cobra's and people of all makes. Scott

Question Sway bar

Scott I was admiring your front sway bar and was wondering if you could tell me who you purchased it from, and also how did you figure out the right tension. I have been looking at photos of my car on the track and with that Big Block up front it leans quite a bit. My lower control arms are set up for a sway bar and I have a nice flat mounting place on my frame, but need to get all the pieces to make it work. Any info would be appreciated,

Brian, you need to run that baby on a real race track instead of one of those parking lot style tracks. That right there is an invitation to run with the LA area Cobra Club days at Willow Springs in May. What do you think?

Thanks but I do not have the nice set-up like you do with the super cobra rig. I think I will get the parking lot dialed in first before I venture out to the big kids playground........

Brian, there is room for three in the rig. It's a fun track to run on and high speeds!!! Are you going to join us in Vegas for SAAC in February?

Brian, sorry, I just saw your post. I am running a 1 1/4 front speedway engineering sway bar. The sway bar along with the 600 pound springs makes the front very stiff. Wheel rate is 385 pounds. You can contact speedway engineering but the bar might be too stiff for your liking. I have a 1 inch front bar in my garage that I was useing that mounts like a typical sway bar. It is an original style bar that would bolt on a hi-tech, original cobra or a kirkam. I do not know if it would bolt on your Lonestar. If you want , you can try it and see if it fits. If it bolts up, you can give me $50. If not, give the bar back. If you add the bar, initial turn in will be better but mid corner and exit, it might push. If it pushes too much, you can add some rear rate to help. Better to have a push than oversteer. I have plenty of extra springs for the rear also. Scott

Talking Sway Bar.........

Scott thanks for the response, Can you shoot me a picture of the sway bar that you have? I have a perfect set-up for a Speedway unit and have contacted them. I need to review the spring rate for the front to see where I am at, With my current set-up I can adjust my car pretty good with the dual rate shocks but that is not taking care of the body roll, or the push at the entrance of the turn. Maybe I should not worry about the roll if it is sticking? I also contacted Lone Star and they have a unit for the car also, but I think that it is the typical with rubber mounts not the ball joints. I do not have the original 1965 set up on my car, the frame was made by Talor racing in Texas and it is a box frame, however it seems that the Lone Star owners do no go to the track that often......... So I do not have a lot of set-up help with the car. Thanks for the help,

Brian, mine has the long bolt with the rubber mounts, it is not the speedway style bar. Mine used to not turn in well at all. The push has to do with the narrower front track. You need to go up in front rate with bar or springs. It will turn in much better but might push mid corner or exit. The stiffer front will give you more rear traction at the exit. You might have to add more rear spring to balance it out and your adjustable shocks can control transients. Let me know if you are interested in the bar. Scott

Brian,
After some testing (point loading) realized I had a small amount of flexure between the shock towers. I designed a cross member that boxes up the front of the chassis. This should stiffen things up quite a bit. Combined with the right springs and the sway bar it should be tight. I have included a pic of the setup.

That is a nice brace I was thinking a bar with swivel ends between the shock towers. I sure would like to hear about your spring selection and set-up on your car, looks like it is heading for the track....................

Thanks but I ordered the swaybar already from lone star. I thought I would start there and move onward and upward. I sure would like to talk with you some time and have that knowledge rub off on me....
