I would opt for an enclosed trailor. The average temps will be high 50's. Dress WARM.

Randy,
I bought my used Superformance in November. Flew from Atlanta to Richmond, VA with my wife, bought the car and drove home on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Sure I was nervous that I would have problems in the middle of nowhere with my new expensive car. With my wife sitting next to me.
The car was reliable and total fun. We both enjoyed it. As others have said - make sure the wheels are on and have air, there is oil in the motor, watch the gauges and drive it home. Take some time to get used to it before you jump on it.

The biggest thing I dealt with on my 5 hour drive home with my older tried and tested SPF was not mechanical, it was the other yahoo's on the road that speed up and swerve all over the damn road trying to see what it is and who is driving it. Avoid those big SUV's that come screaming up to you on a highway and then slam on the brakes to see what there is to see... its the most dangerous part of driving the Cobra in my opinion. I have actually seen an accident when an oncoming car was looking at a few of us in Cobra's and didn't notice the cars stopped in front of them... bang. Nobody was hurt....
Just watch out for them... and enjoy the drive... its the highest I have felt since college.
James

Randy........all thoughts hee are good, and they are looking out for you. It is wise to have 'the guys who sold it to you' drive it for a bit, as they are saying, to get any early bugs out. Good idea! Now, when you take over...just keep in mind.....this is a fun car, a great ride, and no sound or feel like it ....ANYWHERE! It just 'bites' sometimes if you are not paying attention...like the pipes......something simple like cleaning the windshield....you forget...and soon, have either part of your pants attached to the pipes.....or a nice smoldering on the leg.....also, just keep attention to the sound, and the gauges........not extreme, just watch them until you realize that.....2 gauges should always point left (oil and water temp..meaning they are in the 'good zone") the other 3.fuel, oil pressure, and amps...should point up or to the right...once this is reconized easily........no issue! after that...........just have fun!!
oh, and by the way........a name for the car needed by your daughter..........why not Phoenix? picking it up there, and the name means....a beautiful lone bird that consumed itself in "fire", rising renewed from the ashes to start another long life! it is also used as a symbol of 'immortality"...I think it just might have a fit!
best of luck to you...............enjoy the ride!

I don't think you are likely to experience any mechanical problems driving back. Anthem is very thorough and meticulous.

Our first drive was eleven hours through the mountains with temps in the 50s to get it home. Two stops for petrol. Had to feather the throttle at idle which was really dumb, but no big deal except on hill side starts. Relatively pleasant. If nobody is shooting at you, it is a good day.

You can carry on tools under 7 inches in Phoenix, which doesn't help you much. I know because I just did a service call in NY for work and they pulled out my tool kit and measured all of them. They specifically said anything under 7 inches is ok. Your airport might be different....

Randy... Are they installing a 3M protective film kit on the front end for you. I would hate to see you get a bunch of rock/stone chips on your first cruise back home in it. I know some of the guys in here say they're just battle scars, but your car is is brand new. John might be able to have it installed for a few hundred dollars and they do look pretty good and save the frontend. Send pics...

If you feel you need some tools make a stop at Costco before leaving town and get one of those small, fold up mechanics tool kits. I keep one in the back of my Cobra for every cruise. They do come in handy and don't take up a lost of room. If you use "soft" bags for clothes you can really get a lot in the small trunks.

I see you made it home. Congrats. However, there was something about running out of gas.

Hey Randy, A screw driver, plyers, duck tape, & cell phone. For your self: navy/ski knit cap, gloves, a triple layer of upper clothing if you'll be driving in the morning or later at night. If you ears are sensetive then ear plugs. Do you plan to make it a one day trip, it is just over six hours? Enjoy it and stay at the speed limit until you get to know the Cobra and it's personal traits. You'll have a ball. John

I agree with everyone. My suggestion on the tool thing is
[1] have Anthem give you a bag of tools. Keep them or mail them back and they should know what tools you may need based on experiance.
[2] Have them drive it for 250+ miles to sort out any problems before you pick it up.
[3] Suggestion: Have them drive it to you and they can fly back. Other builders do this all the time. Have them recomend someone in Vegas to work on your car. I am sure they know someone.
[4] Plan with a hauler in advance just in case you need someone. Call them now and ask what number to call if emergency occurs. Plus have some guys with cobras to call just in case. We are all nice guys along the way.
[5] When I bought my last two cars from a builder here in Scottsdale, they told me they would put about 250 miles on the car before they would release it to me just as a precaution. That is smart.
[6] The first time I drove my car I thought I knew everything until I came to a stop sign and accidently hit the gas pedal and brake at the same time. Pedals are very close together. Wear Needless to say, I scared the **** out of myself. I scheduled myself at Bondurant asap to fix that problem. Driving lessions are a must, either with someone that has a cobra or someone that knows.
[7] Do not get stuck in traffic or across the dam. Plan ahead out of work traffic.
Just food for thought. Enjoy, you are going to love it.
