No whining!
OK, big thanks to Jim and Eric yesterday!
Motor is back up and running! She is purring like a lion and I put about 100 miles on the rings to start the seating process.
The 429 started smoothly after Eric helped with the 180 out issue. I need to put some more miles on the car then adjust the valves and make sure everything is buttoned up before Route66! Jim was manning the lap-top and making sure my MDS timing curves were just right.
HOWEVER, The new Milodon gear drive does not whine like the Pete Jackson one did. So for all of you that were in front of me, or are going to be in front of me, toss those ear plugs! The only noise you will here is the exhaust!
C U There @ Route66! Barb and I are leaving early so we will see you in Willimas for dinner!

Pete Jackson's are famous for their whine.
A semi quiet Green machine. Nice.

Glad to hear things are up and running. Is it okay to say that I liked the whine, though? I remember back to when I just moved to AZ and called on the group to help me pull the body from my car. We heard you coming down the street from about a block away. The whine made some sweet music!

Leaving Early Route 66
Maybe we will join you. Hooking up with the Sargents. Taking my sister in law so Jo will ride in the Mustang....

Yes I remember well Fitz, and it looks like rain again....
Just checked the trustry 10 day forcast and it calls for rain on Wednesday, hopefully it will blow thru and we have clear skys by Friday.
We were thinking about leaving the east valley at nine and that would put us at the I-17 at 9ish depending on traffic. I am not going to have a lot of miles on the new motor (which rocks!) so I need to stay out of traffic.
What if we met at 9:30 and left at 10:00?
Fitz, this time bring you own gloves....
I am just glad that Barb has a heater and she will be warm, that 12 volt electric blanket should work fine in 30 degree weather with a 110mph wind chill factor

Don't forget the car cover. Last year Fitz had snow IN his car in Williams.

It doesn't snow in Arizona. It is hot and dusty in the whole state. That's why everyone stays back east where it is nice and cool

Hey Brian,
I always liked that loud gear drive. I was always aware of where you were and what you were doing. Kinda like a bell on a cat.
Man this is killing me to read this stuff and not be able to go. The 66 Run is one of the best runs all year.
I started the Cobra up yesterday. I thought I would clean her up and take her.
Well, I had to shut her down because the temp climbed to fast. Checked the water when she cooled and there was none. I checked the oil and found the
water. The oil was a gray mass of gunk. Sooo I now have a bad head gasket or some other problem. I will keep you posted.
The GT is getting another transaxle so it won't be ready in time.

BTSnake,
What? you have two weeks to replace a head gasket! It's not like your job will get in the way We will miss you two and it will not be the same
Get that car on the lift and rock and roll, you have plenty of time!
Brian
