Primers
OK.
You reloaders... I have a primer question.
Which brand should I get?
Maricopa is going to show me how to reload. I have the powder, Brass and bullets. I know I need large pistol for the 45ACP.

Mesa Dave's your guy but who knows where he is. I'm sure that if he sees your post, he'll jump in. You gonna use anything other than pliers, hammer and a center punch? Remember to cram as much powder into the brass as you can....

Large pistol, any brand. For most hand gun applications it doesn't make much difference. You're shooting less than 25 yards and group sized in the 6 to 8 inch range are acceptable. Just be sure to follow the date in the loading manual and if your components are different than what's listed, back off the powder charge by 10 to 20% and go up slow. Remember that handgun powder is much more volitile than most rifle powder so increase your loads gentley.

Federal makes very reliable primers, I also use Winchester in pistols - 45 LC.

Tests have proven the Winchester are the hotest, followed by Federal, Remington then CCI. Generally, that means that you will get a higher pressure load with a Winchester primer than you will with any of the other if everything else remains constant. So if you develop a load with one of the slower primers, be sure to reduce that load before you change to one of the hotter primers.

I was checking out Gun Broker and found several. Sure not as cheap as they were before the big run on them and everything else. Check this offer... 51 bucks with 23 shipping fee so 73 http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=137628925 at least he is not adding 20 % to the bid cost with a fixed shipping fee of 30 , 35 bucks.

I try to stick to CCI. But with the run on ammo, just about anything you can get.
Midway and Natchez say they have stock, but it day to day.
Be prepared to pay double or more at some places.
Just my opinion.

I shortages and limits on buying ammo is starting to ease up a bunch. Cabalas had full selves and even expended the regular footprint of inventory per Bob B. No limits to buying 45 ACP, 357 and so on. The prices are still painful but maybe that will ease up a bit too.

What shortage? I was in Richmond, VA a couple of months ago and Remington 9mm was 20 cents per round, 500 round limit.

Bob,
I got it.
Jeff,
I was out on gunbrokers and saw that. Rather buy locally and not pay the extra for hazard shipping. cabelas price was $29.95

Dillon Precision in Scottsdale sells 1,000 Winchester Large Pistol Primers for about $30.00. For a slightly better deal, you can head out to Tuesday Night Steel at Rio Salado and purchase the same from Gary Blunt for $25 (no tax). I'll pm you his phone number.
