Default no numbers but im pretty sure its a butler

hey i have a socalled butler car bought it from a guy who bought it from an aerospace engineer in the 80s the car has an l88 chevy 427 set back into the firewall the tunnel is huge on the car,has a box frame mg suspension dodge brakes with chevys calibers,all fiber glassed body,gel-coated under fenders,the body has to be atleast 3/4in thick but i looked through the hole in the front and dont see any numbers just fresh powder coating,was there any butler cars that had no numbers,ive never pulled the body off the car cause there is about 100 bolts holding it to the frame, the car also has a jag rear end ill get some pics when it comes out of the trailer but if you guys now anything about a cobra with no numbers but is from the 80s that would be awesome

Hi Jack,

Welcome to the group!

If there is no BRI number on the frame up front, it's not one of the 104 cars that were built in the Butler jigs. It's most likely an Arntz but still could have been built at least partially by Butler. As you've probably read in past posts, Butler built 60 frames for Arntz, some of which received a small number stamped up front. A few of these frames were sold on by Butler after Arntz went under.

Outside of the 104 Butler cars (or a history from all the previous owners), it'll be hard to tell exactly where your frame fits in. I can get pretty close though with pictures of the frame, especially the outriggers, crossmember and suspensions mounts. So post them up and let's see what you've got!

so can you teach about the arntz cars like were should i find numbers and what are distinctive features it has over a butler ive learned a thing or two about a butler just nothing on a arntz,how many arntz were made anything helps thanks

Photos would help. In addition to what you've already mentioned about MGB front / Jag Rear, take some pics of the engine compartment, interior, front radiator area, pedals/pedal box, and exterior of course - and any bits not bolted to the car if its apart.
