Mass-Flo systems
I was wondering if anyone has had experience with these for Ford small blocks? I have seen one and they looked great and very original. I was wondering how hard they were to install and which tweaks of the tuning system were needed?

G'Day Merv,
This system is similar...no need for a laptop etc. EZ-EFI from F.A.S.T. www.fuelairspark.com There is a very good article in the December issue of HOT ROD magazine. It might give you some idea. |
Didn't Aussie Mike use something similar?
Cheers |
Thanks Rob. Did you mean this one? http://www.compperformancegroupstore...Category_Code=
I already have the standard EFI system (5.0L HO). The above seems designed to replace a carby? Merv |
I think Hogster has this sytem fitted to his car.
|
True?? Any pics Hogster?

Just did a quick search under his name.

Thanks you Boxhead! I assume then that he added the 4 throttle body set up to a new manifold. I wonder if that could be done with the existing manifold, or even if that would be a good idea ... hmmm .
Lots to think about. Merv |

Rob I have an EFI system - a standard Ford one and I was interested in one of those alternative systems (typically 4 throttle body setups) that 'look like' a carby (when pancake aircleaner is added). Mass-Flo is one such system and I was wondering if there were others. The one pictured may indeed do that but would connect to a carby induction manifold I believe.

I have installed about 12 of these systems, they are great if you are going for the carb look, but I don't think you will get any more hp of it. Here are some pictures of a few I've done.

Thanks for that. That's what a motor should look like! They are all Mass-Flo systems I believe? Very nice work. We have to import these systems to Australia from the US as there is no local supplier. To be worth the expense, they have to look the part. They do.

How do these systems vary from getting say an Edebrock manifold and converting to fuel injection?
I presume there is some eletronics provided with these systems that would not be an extra for a converted manifold but in either case i assume atrip to a dyno would be a must anyway? Any advice appreciated as I am looking at the injected carby style look myself as a future option. |
With these systems you get either a edelbrock torker or edelbrock victor with a single plane intake. Both of these intakes are adapted with injector bungs. Everything you need will come with this system except the fuel delivery system. You can order that from Chris at Mass Flo as well. No need to do any dyno time for tuning. Information needed is hp est. cubic inch size. That is it. Chris programs the computer to the specs you give him. It really is an easy installed compared to alot of others.

Thanks Bill - food for future thought.
I'll have to try and find an Oz car with one of these in it for an up close and personal look. Really want to get that carby look, hence why I'd do it as mine is one of the 302 versions but would match this in with the mild cam change over and aftermarket ECU changes in one hit. What options have we if we had such a system set up and then wanted to change again regarding changes to the computer? Cheers Steve |
Steve, Talk to Aussie Mike, his system looks just like a carby setup with the air filter in place.
|
So Bill, you are saying that to mix and match parts is not a good idea? Just use the entire Mass-Flo system including its supplied manifold?
Merv |
you get all the components that you need for the install. It is very easy.

I'll probably go the same way with mass-flo after rego. I'm running the same engine as you. Maybe if we purchase together we'll save a few $, if nothing else, on freight. I'm considering sidepipes from the US as well, so given the strenghth of au$, maybe the sooner the better (I've been waiting for $ for $, but it's recently headed the wrong way) What are you doing re heads?
