I wanted to run my bonnet without latches for a smoother look but their use came up in converstaion with my engineer.
He started to voice his concern for them as a protrusion until I pointed out that if they were going to be an issue in this respect, then the person was a nano-second from smashing themselves against the windscreen.
He had no way around the logic and had to agree that latches were really snot uch an issue. Nor should they be. In my view a protrusion is the first point of impact, such as quick jacks, but latches are well behind the nose and bonnet of the car, so there is already a serious situation if someone is going to strike them.
If you want to use them push your engineer in the same way.
Good luck.
