try the flake floor from your local "paint place" they have all different colours & surface finishes but make sure to read the instructions
we use this on factory floors & under house areas & just did a lab for soil testing
cost is dearer than jet dry floor paint but you get what you pay for
& they will warrant there product if you follow the directions & prep products / hope this helps

Thanks Rob. I was keen to get a plain colour if possible - so not sure if 'flake' means it has a random pattern. Can be hard to find small washers!

Will check it out.

you can get all block colours[ the flake can be taylored to your requirements ] jaguar /rollsroyce use it for there workshop floors
flake is one colour & you add other colours to it if you want [ the base is usally white ] well thats what we use to give light reflect in dark areas

Thanks Rob. This is the one: http://www.auzzieedges.com.au/concrete-coating.html

I guess I can do it myself? That is no contractor is needed?

I used Jotun's Jotacote 605 on my shed floor.

Cheers

With a new slab, how long should you wait before painting and sealing the new slab?

I have come to realise I am beter off just to pay someone to assemble mine, I got onto a guy yesterday, He came out for a look today, and will start site prep tomorrow to pour footings.
Then he will be back in about 3 weeks to assemble shed, then straight after that I have concretors organised for the pour, then wait to seal.

Merv,

Nope, it was rolled on. I didn't do the work....was in Saudi paying for it

Boxhead,

Jotun like the slab to cure for a month, then it is acid etched. Once it's all clean and dry they apply the finish.

Cheers

Phil
This crowd have some pretty good products, I haven't done a garage floor with it just parking areas and driveway;

http://www.parchem.com.au

2 part sealer and tint will cost about $190 for 20lt. Some branches seem a bit dearer than others. I've found Riverstone pretty good and I think there's one in Penrith. Heed the safety warnings it can be nasty.

The product I used was this one, with a charcoal tint;

'The Coloured Concrete Sealer system is ideal for colouring and protecting plain concrete. It is a two part system; Part A the colour sealer clear base and Part B the colour tint. The Colour Tint (Part B) is added to the Colour Sealer Clear Base (Part A), and then applied using a roller or soft bristled broom'

They have other products as well, see the brochure.

cheers

Thanks guys. These guys have both the Swisstrax/similar tiles and the latest Citadel paints which are supposed to be 4 times tougher than epoxy ...

http://www.flexico.com.au/citadel-po...floor-coatings

and

for the tiles:

http://www.flexicoqld.com.au/floors

Dave - all seem to say at least a month for the concrete to fully sure before coating. However, with the heat you are having there ...

I eventually went with these guys as they have a local supplier/applicator: http://www.concretecoloursystems.com...ing_system.php

Will be done on Monday-Tuesday at a very reasonable price including all preparation for 6 x 6 mtr area (< $1400)

I used Ameron Two Pac Epoxy for concrete......used a concrete grinder to run over the floor 100sqm this made the surface beautiful and smooth (if you want the top coat smooth youve got to get concrete smooth first) I then etched it with hydrocloric Acid 4-1 then pressure cleaned it .....I left it for a week then vacuumed before painting... The Ameron Epoxy could be driven on after about 3 days but took probably a month before it was rock hard

Having all that done today. Spent weekend cleaning the concrete and filling any holes and small cracks. House is quite new still. Will be interested to hear what the applicator says about drying time!

All done Dave. An impressive product. Has a 2 pack epoxy base, flake and then 2 pack urethane top coats. Very tough stuff and resistant to almost every fluid known to man. Can be driven on in 24 hrs but I will wait 48.

The cost was about $800 more than I could buy the materials for and included a diamond cut re-surfacing of the concrete, acid wash, etc. Was (only) 38 sqmtrs.
