Wooah, yea that would kill the deal. I'm looking at getting wheels tires out of the US and I might have to "find a guy". I used to work with a US company so I've got friends that have local addresses. From there it's a case of getting a freight forwarder to look after the rest. Another friend of mine works for a global construction company in their procurement division - he's a big fan of early Cadillacs so I might reach out and see what an internal stock movement is worth.

just to let you know, american racer, who mainly deal in speedway tyres have a DOT approved 295/50/15. and 305/60/15. They say a lot of hot rod guys and drag racers use them. They are located in Wetherill Park Sydney, not sure if they are anywhere else, sure you could locate a contact number on the itronet machine. They are $240 a tyre. I also have a set of billboards that have about 100 street k's on them, could be pursuaded to sell them, they were a tad too wide for the front of my car. cheers.....

Boxhead, bummer with the Billboards is that the writing on the sides is only part of the look. The way the sidewall bags the wheels and the way the tread meets the sidewalls is a big part of the look. And I just love that look as well.

Just a note that the 295/50's would have been unobtainable from between 2 -3 years ago. So these tyres are at least that old.

I dont really know Kanga, I have not looked that deep into it yet.
But if needed as a last resort I will get the Goodyear stencil and spray whatever tyre I get.
It is more the "look" I am after, than out and out performance.
And as you suggested, I think I too would get a dedicated set of track tyres when the time comes.

Kanga
tell your engineer he's dreaming.
Mine went the minimum of H rating which in a 15" can be one rating higher than many of the available tyre meet these days. Hence my earlier comment about the Yokis being H rated but the Avons above that with a V rating.
Clearly the engineers are not working to a specific set of instructions just interpretation.
So when does your engineer think you are planning on travelling at 240 plus kph?
Good luck!!!??!
