Swaybars for Clasic Revival
Hi All
I am back again and asking for some feedback on what other CR owners and cobra owners have done in regards to front and rear swaybars. I do not have my car running just yet but have for some reason decided to think about this component today. I have a good understanding of the advantages of swaybars and this leads me to the idea that this is a must but hey why not ask the cobra world ?
Thank's
Scoob

Scoob,
A few of us got one made up based on a design by Phil N.
If you call Pedders in Hornsby NSW they might be able to do more.
Cheers,
Ben

Scoob, what chassis is yours? As Ben said, there was a batch organised through Pedders.
I can not comment if it made a difference, as I fitted mine during initial build.
I have not heard of too many people running a rear sway bar.

Beejay
it sounds like you use a front bar only and Boxhead is asking the question about which chassis I have and it is the round tube with VE rear.
Is Phil's round or square?
Depending on if it is the same it could be an easy one to get via Pedders

Phils, Bens and mine are all the older square tube chassis cars.
You will need to see if any of the newer builders have run one.
I am not sure but I think Gregg may have one in his car.

Ian sells a front one for the new chassis, he doesn't sell (and doesn't recommend) a rear sway bar.

Gregg has the latest and greatest from CR, the previous one interfered with the wheel when turning.
CR new Front sway bar - and its the simple things that are often the problem.

Hi Scoob,
Yes Dave's right, I had some trouble with my original sway bar, and then got the updated version from Ian. (I have the round tube chassis by the way).
I did test drive my cobra without the sway bar and to be honest for cruising you wouldnt notice, but spirited driving/track you would.
I only have a bar on the front as per Ian's recommendation.
I reckon it handled really well on the track up at shelby fest. Just need better tyres now (and better driver) :-)
Rgds

I rekon you should pull it out Ben, it might help you with that couple of seconds you are missing

Couldn't do that Gav.
The rear bar is painted all nice and is fixed with polished brackets!
I am a waxer now.

thanks Greg your example of with and without the front bar is what I was looking for just to confirm my thoughts. If all goes well I should see some of you at the Nationals.

I heard you are training to be a hairdresser so as to suit your proposed new track car?

Scoob,
I had thought that a rear swaybar would help with understeer, mine showed shocking understeer early in its development (not that it is developed far) but stickier tyres took care of the problem.

I run a rear sway bar.
Have not tried it without for a while, however at shelby fest I did snap the link and the car went all weird.

Gav
I will keep that in mind but I hope the tyres I have will give the balance required to reduce understeer. Their is always the right foot to help reduce under steer!!!

Don't worry if they don't Scoob, the theory is to just buy more until you get it right
