What happened to venom kit cars and cheap gt body wanted?

Hi all,
Does anyone know if the chap from Venom that was in Victoria is still trading? He had good prices on cobra amd GT40 stuff (yes very basic but ideal to the scratch builder). Or does anyone know where I can get a GT40 body for my build.
Thanks guys
Jonesy

ptrefry 03-26-2012 04:31 PM

Has he disappeared again, ummmmmmmmmmmmmm funny that.
Dont worry he will re surface trading under a new name , as he always does.

john chesnut 03-26-2012 05:49 PM

Don't know about prices. But, call Bill Hough at 781-659-1404. He is GT 40 crazy and specializes in making the bodies. Tell him John Chesnut told you to call him.

Jonesy_sa 03-26-2012 06:53 PM

Bill does do great work, pricewould be an issue though as I'm located in Australia.

Beejay 03-27-2012 02:19 AM

Jonesy,

GT40's are not too cheap to build properly. Why throw big bucks at a crap body?

Talk to Craig at Absolute Pace in Qld.

hi jonesy david from venom motorsport in still operating he,s just having trouble with business partners to my knowlodge
try call him on 0438289427

Jonesy_sa 03-27-2012 04:00 AM

Hi all,
Renovationinov - thank you I'll give it a go
Beejay - good question. It depends what you call crap, if its solid, straight, fit anf dinish is ok then its not crap, simply basic. I am still waiting for a few of the kit manufacturers to get back to me on price however in the past they have been quite dear. The current kits in Australia are bloody good however bits are dearer because they ate engineered to fit together like Lego. Because I'm using my own chassis and will slightly modify the body I can't vouch paying that premium if as I won't be utilizing those features. With that said important features such as ability to find glass that fits are of importance.
Cheers
Jonesy

ptrefry 03-27-2012 03:35 PM

Having trouble with partners ?????
Or having problems with angry customers ????

sambo 03-27-2012 10:40 PM

I know of an ex-employee of Venom's who is chasing several thousand dollars in unpaid wages. I've seen evidence of shonky fabrication work and I know of another person who he owes money to. I believe he's been banned from eBay and I was around when he rubbed a lot of people the wrong way on this forum - before the old threads were lost to the server crash.

Jonesy - perhaps that's why he has good prices on Cobra and GT40 stuff?

Jonesy_sa 03-28-2012 03:29 AM

He was the same chap that sold Shakers to suit modern falcons on eBay to? I wouldn't mind a copy of the gt40 chassis drawings he had for reference.
Much appreciated for the info guys!

sambo 03-28-2012 03:40 AM

Have you looked into basic kits from the States? Sounds like you're willing and able to do what's required to pass local beam and version tests.

Jonesy_sa 03-28-2012 03:50 AM

Funny, I just posted about the ICV stuff. I should be able to engineer what's required without to many dramas(see other post). Today the thought of importing did cross my mind. I have only heard of one chap offering good priced shipping from US to Aus that's from CA somewhere. The thing that causes issue again is that I'll use my own chassis but if I imported a good body and handful of bits I may swell investigate an unfinished project etc.. I'll have to look at what's available in the states and how much. It's a competitive market with greater supply so it might be a good option!

Aussie Mike 03-28-2012 07:53 PM

If you want a good body from the US have a talk to Mr Bruce on this forum. A few of the guys have brought in hard tops from him and his work looks top notch.

Not sure if he does GT40's but he has a variety of other interesting bodies including the original Slab Side Cobra, 289 FIA, 427, Dayton and even the Cheetah.

A nice guy too by all accounts.

Cheers

Have you not read this thread?

If you have then truly you are an idiot. If not please read it and then tell me you want to do business with him... There is a good reason these forums are in use. Feedback from those that have travelled the road!

Sorry but if someone pisses off enough people with bad wormkanship, no product, dodgy finances and missed deadlines etc then why would you want to deal with him? Cheap is cheap, no matter how you look at it. It will end up costing you twice as much. There are plenty of other reputable kit car builders around without having a dodgy one to steal the average joes hard earned money.

stephen low 05-15-2012 09:05 PM

Gees Towy why don't you say what you really mean??

But seriously Jonesy, what has been said has more than a ring of truth in it all.

There is just no way to sweeten up this $urd with sugar as $ucker's actions have spoken for themselves for many years now.

There might be extenuating circumstances at play right now for $ucker but the same old record seems to be repeating from about 15 years ago.

There are other builders of basic and cheap kits in the wider cobra forum that at least end up supplying you with goods for your money.

Don't throw your money away!
