Default GoPro Camera Mounting?

Hi Everyone,

My son just came back from oseas and bought me a new GoPro Hero 3 Silver Edition camera.

Looks the businesss. Even has a iPhone App.

Just wondering what each of you use for mounting on the Roll bar (I am assuming).

It comes with stick on flat and curved mounting pads but dont want to put anything permanent on the Cobra.

Thanks

rgds

Gregg

G'day Greg:
I have the black edition of the Hero3, the suction cup work fairly nice on the dash and inside the front windshield. I have a WCC Cobra and the roll bar has an OD of 3" If I want to place it on top of the roll bar I will need to rig a permanent clamp that opens to that diameter.
Cheers
Lou

Gregg,
I'll bring my sons with me on sat, he has all the mounts and you can try before you buy so to speak.

Same here. Found when I mount it on the roll bar, gets some wind noise, but the suction cup on the dash, clear sound with out any wind, good view. You will have to experiment with it to see what works best for you

From the dash:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rD_K--EpZ0Y

From the roll bar area: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cer6Mqt_1bo
Got the Black Edition a couple of days ago, with the LED screen option on the back. Think it will be an excellent set up to get vids.

The IO Port model from I/O Port Products works well for me.
A little pricey, but well made. No problems after nearly 5 years.

For the wind noise problem, you can get a plug in mic. it plugs straight in to the speaker plug and has a silencer on it, they work very effective.
It has no leads and just sits snug with the body,
You need to use the case with the cut outs in it, not the waterproof case.

Heres a link to an example on eBay, its not the one we have, but will give you an idea

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/GoPro-Mic...item3f1e585ccc

p.s. its amazing what you hear when the wind noise is gone.
regards
Dave

I use the suction cup and stick it in the center of the car, next to the roll bar.

Its fine as long as you cable tie to something in case it does come unstuck. I use the suction cup and have not had any issues at all.

I used the rollbar mount for my GoPro. I also just bought this mike set up on fleabay
http://http://www.ebay.com/itm/STERE...item3f038a6f75
what's nice about this setup is that it has separate right and left channel mikes so I can run one down on the outside of each seat to pick up left and right sidepipe sound and no wind noise.

MFE, I've been recording audio on a separate unit but it's a pain to re-sync with the GoPro video on my PC. That binaural mic setup looks pretty good. Are you getting any distortion or clipping when recording from inside the Cobra? The pre-amp on the GoPro is pretty noisy from what I've been reading.
