American Racing VN427 Shelby Wheels
Has anyone got these wheels fitted to their Cobras? Pricw seems reasonable for a custom built wheel.

Looks to me like limited back spacing is a problem.

I have them... got them from Wheels For Less. You can pretty much get any back spacing you need. Took about 6 weeks to have them made

Look for them at the bottom of the page.

Have the American Racing (Shelby) 15" knock off rims on my Backdraft. Not sure what your driving? Going to 15" was expensive and involved process. Had to replace rear brake lines, rear brake calipers, two front knock off peg drives and two front peg drive axel caps. Very happy with the American Racing rims and the look!

They look like a nice wheel, although the 17" version introduces a "step" in the rim. Painted centres are a bonus too.
The 17x8 with 4.5" max backspace (offset) is not enough for the Harrison - needs to be about 10mm more in my experience.

I like the Reverse lip offered with these wheels.
Looking at 18x9.5 & 18x11 with 160mm backspace.
Just waiting on replies from people I have emailed....

As you know I have the 'salt flats' on mine and American Racing did the back spacings no worries.
Mine are a bit smaller though, I have 17x8's and 17x9.5's

Ash, I've seen these wheels when America Racing had an outlet at Burleigh. Heads. They are a very nice wheel.
"I actually had their spinners mounted on some GOLD wheels I had. Most people liked the spinners but (I can't remember who exactly ) didn't like the GOLD wheels...."

I have the torque thrust 11 wheels. I got them for a good price from wheel boyz in qld. Our dollar wasn't great at the time but service from wheel boyz was good and it was handy to be able to deal with an Australian company.

Hi Towmaster,
I have these rims on my DRB.
I ordered them in May this year from Bob at Vintage Wheels US.
:: Welcome To Vintage Wheels ::
Took around 5 weeks from order to delivery, arrived late June.
Based on price I decided to have tyres/tires fitted in USA.
Only issue will be if I damage and need to replace one tyre.
Fitted them as soon as the arrived and to date have only need soap and water to clean and keep shiny.
Fitted spinners and wheel nut covers also.
Great value rims and the exchange rate is good at the moment also.

Thanks guys, I am after the soft lip with the traditional Halibrand centre as in the VN427 from American Racing. These ones (Vintage Wheels) have the traditional stepped lip, they look nice, just not the look I am after. Also I need the 18" for more tyre range and to clear my brakes. Think I have found the Australian agent, will see how the price stacks up.

Keep us updated re the Aussie distributor. I know I would preffer to buy from a local supplier if the pricing is comparable to me importing them. There may even be others thinking the same.
Hmmmm. Just a thought, maybe a group buy/better pricing if there are a few interested parties ?

I have the fully polished ones-love the look but they are a major PIA to clean...so many inside corners. Make sure you have ceramic pads.

Towmaster,
I have have the VN427's 15x10 and 15x7 (polished rim and grey centres) fitted with 295x50 and 235x60 MT tyres. Front and back are zero offset and I am running Jag series II suspension front are rear. The rears still have plenty of clearance on the hub lower mounting boss.
I bought them via a local Adelaide dealer who dealt with Wheelboyz in QLD.
I did have an issues with both Wheelboyz and local dealer stuffing up my order by ordering in the wrong stud pattern. The tried to tell me that AR didn't supply the rims in 5x4.75 pattern and tried to stick me with the ford bolt pattern. The even tried to bull**** their way out of the stuff up by stating that AR hadn't "finished off" my order and this is the way that they do it(?) WTF!
In the end, I had to live with the rims being machined and fitted with stainless insets to bring the pattern out to 5x4.75.
Apart form this, I would buy from AR rims again and I am extremely happy with the rims and tyres. The look the part.
Let me know if you need more info :-)
Cheers Roy
