Yes it is an upgrade Tony. IIRC, the standard diff supplied in the base kit is a 2.92 non-LSD with a standard- hardness gear set. That would have been too lazy in the car anyways.

From what I've been told the engine has to pass the IM240 test, it has to be EFI and have Cats. If by the time I go to buy my engine the rules change and the 351 is no longer an option then a 302 EFI or Coyote could be a good replacement.

400TT 08-07-2013 06:42 PM

302 & 351 EFI were compliant to the same emissions level.

Tonus72, in TAS you just have to setup that 351 as a production 351 EFI engine and as there is no emissions testing that is as far as it goes. So you won't have any trouble running a 351 if that is what you would like to do.

Craig I tried with a VE Commodore 6.0L last year under the relaxed "50%" rules and the IM240 was still mandatory. Has something changed?

Modena 08-08-2013 03:44 AM

Sambo I think Craig was referring to the requirements in Tasmania.

sambo 08-08-2013 05:55 AM

Missed that bit. I thought all the greenies lived in Tassie?

OZCOBRA 08-08-2013 06:04 AM

I was under the impression Tassie ran Parallel to Vic's requirements??

There are no emissions testing facilities in Tassie. So you just need to present a known emissions compliant production engine or an engine that is fitted with known emissions compliant aftermarket parts. Same as for the other states here in Australia that do not have emissions testing facilities.

Tony

I may leave it un painted and just put a couple of Vinyl White Stripes on it.

Gav 08-29-2013 11:27 PM

Or orange ones?

itempany 08-29-2013 11:28 PM

The body looks as impressive as the chassis and suspension

Baz 08-30-2013 12:15 AM

Save yourself 10K and leave it like that. The finish is superb.

Are painters going to be rendered obsolete?

Just imagine if Craig's guys come up with a choice of four or five base colours and develop a way to incorporate an optional pearl or slightly metallic finish in these bodies. Sounds far-fetched at the moment but with advances in relevant technology, who knows what's possible? Then, with the use of vinyl striping, the need to paint in the majority of cases would be pretty much redundant.

Gav 08-30-2013 07:51 PM

Metal flake, graphics etc has been used on boats and dune buggies for years, there's no reason why metallics couldn't be done. At a cost of course.

Towmaster 08-30-2013 10:14 PM

Yep I saw that body down there this morning, very straight and strong.
On a side note that Cammer engine is bloody massive!!
