I have a friend who brings in cars and engines every few months from the states mainly old cadys ect ect but sometimes he is looking to fill in a bit of floor space in the containers he normally brings 2 40 fters over at the time filled with cars and as much other stuff that will fit . im happy to have a talk with him and see if he minds me passing his number around. he is based in Adelaide .

If your after an Aussie who now lives in the states who concentrates on exports to Australia and Europe give Matt at Shermatt a call. Import and Export of Muscle Cars and Antique Cars
I know and met the guy and he is as honest as the day is long. There are a good deal of Mustangs and the like in Australia have been sourced by Matt. He is well known around the Mustang forums. He travels the USA if you find a car you want and does all the hard work and haggling. I bought a 66 Fastback through him and a couple of other little projects. Just be careful with some of those import/exporters out there, they are shonks! Cheers |
d4's engine choice
Hi d4,
Any decisions on engine choice after all the agonising. Just started my PACE 427 build last week but already struggling with an engine choice. I too was set on a 351w but have had second thoughts. There are a few long motors around for under 5k easy but by the time I sourced an intake set for 95 mustang (for QLD compliance) and then considered a MASflo aftermarket EFI setup post rego to improve the looks the costs start to build. The coyote is starting to look pretty good except that I lose my old school look. Anyone looked at the Boss 302 crate for their cobra? At 444hp may be a little much for me as someone who will just enjoy some cruising on a weekend. |
There's a crowd in the states that do bolt ons for the coyote to make it look like a cammer if you want that sort of old school look.

That's the one, well similar to what I saw anyway.
|
wow......brings the Coyote into a new light........

you're in VIC get a 351 and club rego, only go a Coyote if you need to pass emissions.
|
No telling how long the club rego loophole will be left open. If/when they decide to tighten up the rules it'll be a lot work to convert that 351 over to a compliant engine.
Does Craig supply different engine mounts or adapters to allow you to fit different drivelines or do you need to fabricate all of that yourself? I would've thought the kit was already setup for a particular engine? Regarding the 444HP crate motor, I'd be looking at the torque curve if I was concerned about street manners. |

At some point you (or your kin) WILL eventually have to sell it. A complied fully registered car with a coyote (or LS) would be easier to sell across state lines than one that has a 351 carb engine. I don't think its as easy a choice as it presents on face value. Personally, If you asked me today and I had a bottomless pit of cash, in an Absolute Pace kit I'd probably put a coyote "cammer mock" as per the pick above. It looks sweet, the badge fits, is plenty powerful enough and will fool the 99% that don't know the difference. My 2nd choice probably an LS7, cos the number matches. But that's just me... :o |
Nothing wrong with the look and sound of the Coyote if you ask me. Coming from an LS owner!
|
My wife wants to discuss having another baby. We have two little girls and are wondering whether to try for a boy. I've told her tonight that there are bigger decisions to make and to put it on the back burner. She can't understand that the decision to go 351w over a coyote is crucial and needs my full attention:)

CJ PonyParts are now shipping to Australia. Costs around 1500 for shipping plus taxes and duty.

That's an interesting deal d4. You will need to find an alternator and ECU, then a tune that passes the IM240. The same thing applies to all of the LS crate motors out of the States - looks OK on paper but a minefield if you intend to go for full registration.
