Certainly have more than a few owners not painting them. Actually seems a shame to paint them.

Lots of options with colours and finishes out there as Gav mentioned. We will keep pushing the boundaries of what can be done.

The finish and construction quality is even more impressive on the underside of the body.

Baz, doesn't cost $10k to paint a PACE 427 body. I'm a big believer of spending a little more on quality of the body and saving our customers plenty. I would expect that $10,000 paint job would cost closer to $5,000 on our bodies. And the underlying body quality will show through in the long term.

Thanks all for the kind words everyone. I have a great team behind me and we have worked tirelessly to produce a kit that allows owners to build the car of their dreams with a lot less work, with all the features they have dreamed of and to the quality they have always wanted.

The pretty body, chassis, suspension is just the tip of the iceberg. We have spent even more effort and resources on all the other aspects of the kit.

What are your workshop plans Darryl?

TheDoc 09-19-2013 05:13 PM

Craigs right.

I checked with an experienced Gold Coast painter this week. Metallic paint and pearlescent stripes on a pace 427 car estimated at $5500.

My dad paid that much to get his DRB painted in 1996!

My workshop is in a small industrial estate, It’s only about 80m2 on the floor and it has a 30m2 mezzanine level.
It’s about the size of a large 4 car garage. There should be enough room to build my Cobra?
Once it’s built we are planning a 4 post lift, an overhead block & tackle, workbench, tool draws and a wide screen TV
That’s about it for now. Once the workshop starts coming out of the ground I may do a workshop build thread?

Good news on the painting!

I was up in QLD in Sept before I went on holidays Darryl and popped in to check on your progress and all the other good stuff.

It is all VERY exciting. Getting close to putting my own deposit down too methinks ... :D

d488y2 09-22-2013 04:09 AM

Guy, AP sure does build the excitement! It would be great to see another Victorian getting in to a Pace427 : ). I checked out your blog, how's your shed going? My shed is still a paddock but hopefully it will look something like this soon.

Victorian Pace 427

Hi Darryl

Be patient its only a matter of time before someone succumbs to the temptation of ordering a Pace 427 then you will have someone to compare notes with.

I will build the anticipation

Its an awesome experience its something like child birth looking on I mean.

I just can't wait to get back to the build

Cheers

Brad

No real build update to speak of, but I have been thinking (too much) about Colour and Engines.
I'm really starting to like this colour below. (Galaxy Blue)

Engine, I'm still deciding Old School/New School a 351 Windsor or a Coyote. I saw this Coyote setup at Motorclassica and it meets ADR's and IM240.

Drove past my workshop site the other day and the site has been cleared and power has been put on the site huts.

For the cost that these Coyotes are why would you consider old school, I found a site where these engines are like $7k crate. Then with stroked options super charger mmmmmmm and they look so much like a cammer LOL. If mine gives me any headaches getting registered with the cammer this will be the replacement.
Hell for what the cammer cost I wish I had of gone this way to begin with, dam you internet for providing so many options!!!!

Hi Darryl

What are the specs for your workshop? How far from home is it?

I hope to get my slab done before Xmas, but that might be hopeful with all the rain we are getting

Hey Darryl. that Coyote at Motorclassica that met the ADRs with the stack injection that you have a picture of here. Do you know who built it or its figures ?
Just a little curious............

Thankyou
Chris L

d488y2 11-22-2013 10:36 PM

It was built by InnoV8 Racing Engines, the one in the pic puts out around 475bhp.

Appreciate the heads up there Damage, have spent lots of time 'trawling' through there also. Love the Aluminator XS, but by the time its shipped and has its brain connected, the gear from Innov8 comes into focus. If a lump of coin drops into my lap a rethink could be on !
I should just settle and finish what I have started which will be fantastic, but the 'Gordon Gecko' mentality of 'greed is good' has me doing 'research'. I just think these motors are going to be very special when the aftermarket really catches on.
Cheers
Chris

If you go down that path, here's a thread that outlines what's involved in converting a KMP Cammer to a Coyote Kirkham Flip-top Coyote Install

Awesome thread pictures make it easy lol, well now I have the car back in my possession and the homework I'm doing the cammer doesn't seem that hard, I certainly don't want to have to get rid of it anyway so will exhaust every avenue first

Cheers for the link. Wish the Coyote was around 6.5K here.
Does anyone know what the cost of shipping would be?
Or has anyone purchased a Coyote locally here in Oz?

Darryl, I got a quote on the weekend from Mainfreight for 500lb from LA to Melbourne (100cm x 100cm x 80cm) including freight and clearance/destination charges for AUD$642. That's seafreight. The Coyote weighs 430lb and the LS3 is 400lb.

Simon, thanks for the info, looks like a pretty good quote.
