Ditto, the lowest I have seen is $90k considering all the work that goes into building one.

IMO the average is High side of $80k and up....I think these are now recognized by the market and also reflect where these cars are and should be when they are done well!!!

While higher than the prices mentioned, the white rcr 40 that craig sold last year was offered at $90+ and sold around that. A basically brand new alloy chassis car with heaps of clever gear.

Transaxle on car pictured appears to be a Renault 367 ( if it is a 4 speed ) or a 369 / UN1 ( 5 speed ) Either tranasmission will struggle with anything over 300 hp unless there are a few after market goodies in there ? Quaife do a stack of parts that make the transaxle reliable with higher hp motors.......but in standard format, they tend to break input shafts and shred spider gears with anything over 300 hp.

Craig's Gt40
Craig's Gt40 was sold on ebay after several attempts on ebay and it was sold on consignment.
It is agreed that some GT40's languish on the market for years and remain unsold.
You must be realistic in your selling price.
A current RF GT40 (space frame chassis) is priced at $126k less paint, wheels and tyres
The best GT40 are the ERA,CAV and Moody if you got the money.
Monocoque chassis is preferred to the space frame jobs.

Its a mute point i know but this is incorrect. Craig owned the car. I was going to buy a 1/2 share with Craig off the original owner but Craig bought it outright. I then had an offer in to buy it off him outright if he couldn't sell it in the time he needed to.

In my experience selling GT40's is like selling Cobra's. It all comes down to colour, styling and specification. If you choose popular colour, styling etc it will be a much easier sell. Also finishing detail and drive quality come into it as well. Pick an unpopula3r colour and you virtually need to give them away.
I know of a Cobra that has just sold. Sold in less than a week and even had genuine backup buyers. It was just nice looking car, popular style, well finished, older build. Price was fair to both owner and buyer, so certainly not the cheapest around, actually more towards the higher end.
I would argue our new PACE GT would give the best GT40 replica kits in the world a run for their money. Alloy chassis, billet rocker suspension, full gloss carbon bodies etc. We are also significantly cheaper than RF, around 30% cheaper for same spec parts etc.
Couldn't help myself with the plug.
