Agree.
You can buy TWO GTSs, and still have $50k left over.
One is the latest fastest toughest Holden EVER built, and the other looks like all the other wanna-bee Merc drivers.
What Merc driver would ever really drive it hard anyhow?
VF GTS with 430kw from factory? How long before they get 600kw?
Remember the start of LS1 in Australia, we had 225kw, current tuners can get about 70% over that.

How much of those extra $150,000 dollars are government import taxes?
Does anyone know?
Just asking if this was done in Germany, would the German commentator be saying the price difference is only $50k? ...and that $50k is justified, to avoid the - how do you say in German "plasticy interior" of the Holden, and the prestige of the Merc badge?
For that money Nissan's R34 anyone?

R35 I think is the one you are referring to... Engine needs to be rebuilt very 80,000? K due to ceramic bores among other things...

Re the R35 rebuild at 80k: it ain't so. I've got one!
E63S in the USA is about $93K, about $AUD100K.
E63 AMG Luxury Sedan Sports Car | Mercedes-Benz
LCT would be 33% of the value above $59K or so = about $15K.
It's Mercedes ripping off Aussies.

So with no home ground advantage and on neutral territory - They are about the same price then? In which case, am I to presume most would go the Merc? ....and the smart money the "R-not-quite-34" R35?

Enjoy the beast... it certainly puts to shame my daily driver (aka: the-wives-hand-me-down-sh!t-box). Best of luck with it, I hope it serves you well, with many trouble free miles and smiles...
PS: Just please tell me your buying it in manual... I'll think less of you otherwise

And believe me you can have your GTS with a tune and prob near on identical numbers ....at not far above the loaded Harrop price tag give or take a couple of grand!!!!
.... at that level there is plenty of movement for them to deal $$$$$.
Yeah right $25k less than the GTS!!!.....only if your going to be walking and bending over for the dealership too rape you!!
But all the same the Harrop car is a great piece of kit!!!
They do some amazing stuff.

Those numbers are pretty on the level for the Harrop 2300 cc charger, with cam, plus 100 lb injectors, MAFless tune, walky headers, cat plus pipes, driveline/diff warranted upgrade and the OTRCAIS.
Gaz does raise a valid point in terms of resale, however, I would add, not meaning to upset the masses, is.... who cares, once you have driven this as a daily that behaves well in traffic in the loungeroom like comfort the senator provides.....you will get it...more than happy to test and evaluate against the new factory GTS if the opportunity provides....noting the value highlighted by d488y2's post. All Performance at a buttons push as well.
But to put it in club context...Even as a Ford Cobra configuration puritan my self...this GM combination in a Cobra would be Amazing.

I was at APS yesterday getting my GTS looked at. Found out it had bad fuel and a very dirty Air Filter. Luis the tuner reckons any V8 with a Supercharger is a good thing!
APS can't wait to get their hands on the new VF GTS!
