Don, that's a bit silly. It's a fair question to ask and to answer who cares is a bit rough.
The apparent answer in short from engineer and well versed cobra philes and manufacturers are the Tyres are not street legal dot approved and the ramifications as such should an injury or worse accident occur from a 3rd party perspective seems perilous at best. If such an event did occur.... you use, you lose.
Live pipes, tb's etc may not fall into legal ICVs but they in their own existence would be hard pressed to be proven as being the sole contributor to an accident for example whereas using a tyre that states on its sidewall "for racing purposes only" would seemingly make it far easier to afflict cause.
I'm more than open and happy to be shown otherwise. I'd love a set, but to buy and run them on a who cares rationale is nutso imo at best.

Modena and Spooky..... That's exactly where I was going.
As much as I love the Billboard look and am confident that I can deal with their eccentricities, I'm not that keen on running them on a $75K+ car and then after an accident the insurance company informing me they're not going to cover the car (and also the car I may have hit) because of the 'For Racing Use Only' tyres.
Maybe you have squillions tucked away under your mattress so to 'lose' a Cobra may not mean that much to you. But I'm not a rich man and I cannot afford to throw my car away!
