that diff centre cleaned up a treat i think i will do the same with mine . that alloy colored paint looks nice ive been thinking of doing my engine block in it as well .

Simon - dunno about the fuel sender. I knew about it before mounting. Worse case I'll just drop the tank and til it. Others, I can just use a magnet to pickup all the filings :-)
Gav, Craig - I'm advised the tunnel acts as a tailshaft loop itself with the flooring built in. But yes, apart from the fuel pumps and lines there, there's also only ~4mm of aluminium sheet between a wayward tailshaft and me! Simon was suggesting maybe adding a steel loop in there somewhere. But that would only make it even tighter! So, do tailshafts let go often? I'm not planning on tracking this car, except the occasional gentlemans run at Shelbyfest. |

you must have one of those special magnets that pick up alloy .or you could use some grease on the drill bit and drill slowly so the filings stick to the grease :cool: |

True Rob, but a tailshaft loop would have kept it from bouncing off the road or trans tunnel (or fuel system).

Engine installed
Another milestone last night.
Grappled with this on my own for most of the day. I had to cut out about 55mm of the front floor in the tailshaft tunnel so I could fit the gearbox mount. Moved everything outside as I don't have the roof clearance in my little Cobra Den for the engine crane. Fitted up the gearbox, repositioned the clutch line (the default location doesn't clear the front of the tunnel), removed the hurst adapter and inserted the engine. The crane, even on full extension and without the nose fitted to the chassis, only just reaches! I actually had to manually lift the rear of the gearbox to 'swing' the engine back enough to drop into the mounts (and this is where I needed help - thanks Paintwerks!) A huge milestone in my mind. But just one word of warning if I may. You're going to have trouble finding tyres to suit those wheels you have mounted. :p |

Actually, looks like I'll get the chance to try that side-crane manouvre sooner than later. I need to move it six inches forward so I can fit the tailshaft. I've got it in place, but there is no way I can hold it in place and bolt it in securely - I need more space!
