I'm sad to admit, I'm in the same boat as Craig ^^^
...and echo his words. Nice work.

Also You best keep those dies...
You never know what sort of a market might pop up for them. ;)

Lexluther 04-25-2014 08:01 PM

Thanks guys, just wish I could do some work that actually contributed to the car getting on the road instead of this eternal waiting on parts...

Natrual or Black

I will throw this out for comment.

Natural side vent and mirror

Or
Black side vent & mirror
http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/pict...ictureid=11990
I painted the mirror and vent with the black rubber paint that someone on here mentioned, cool stuff.

Just a relevant picture from a while ago, I could not bring myself to drilling a hole in the body so I mounted my side repeaters in the side vents.

That cover is way cool, I can only think of the various things that could be made...... Yep.. I could only think... I would have on idea on how to do it.

For what it's worth, I prefer the natural vents and the either the natural or black mirror .

leroy17 04-25-2014 10:30 PM

Oh, and the brushed finish...... That's the money... Never ever gets old and is so classy. Kind of like the stainless hood on a Rolls. That's cobra class right there.

Tonus72 04-26-2014 12:57 AM

Natural vents look good. As Leroy said, both mirrors look good. Unless you are going with the blacked out theme all over...?

Nice setup with the indicator too. Neat...

Kent,

Those covers are awesome mate, Ill swap you some hinge covers for a set of them?

boxhead 04-27-2014 07:07 PM

Love the covers.

Like the others, I reckon all natural is best.

Not surprising, coming from a guy whose still in gel coat. %/ :p

If you've ever seen a fully polished Kirkham in person, you'd know they pull eyes away from the Mona Lisa, or the great pyramids of Giza.

From where I sit, they even they look good to me in just a filed finish.

Brushed certainly is timeless, but I like the thought of polished at left to patina gracefully with time. Either way you can't go too far wrong unless you paint it in fluro I'd have thought.

Lexluther 04-27-2014 09:45 PM

Thanks guys for comments, natural it is.
My concern was that the vent and the anodised mirrors are a slightly different "shade"
Maybe with time it will blend.
Damage- I have already orders hinge covers, I have to do some minor mods to the die before I make more, maybe this weekend.

My thoughts exactly, and it'd be the lowest maintenance option...

damage 04-28-2014 03:37 AM

Ok cool let me know how much then and I'll fix you up for a set, at least your hinge covers will turn up quicker then your other parts mine only took 3 days from when I ordered them.

Lexluther 05-08-2014 11:51 PM

Hi Damage

Now you have to fit item :JEKYLHYDE:confused:

damage 05-09-2014 02:28 AM

That'll be the easy bit, when the car comes back from the dyno anyway.

750hp 05-09-2014 07:32 PM

I hope you're getting some video footage of the power runs on the dyno!

damage 05-09-2014 09:31 PM

Well of course I am. Would be morally incorrect not too.

My own Vac Former

Had some time this morning, so I thought I would build my own vac. former, it was costing me too much in Bourbon to have my mate do it for me.
I found this old vax in the shed.

Built a bit of a box and mounted the vax underneath

Made a perforated top

assembled the vac former

made a MDF frame to hold the plastic

mysteriously it ended up the same size as the oven tray.... how convenient

bake for about 5 mins or until sufficient sag has been achieved in the plastic. turn on the vax
remove frame from oven and place over die that is sitting in the middle of the perforated top hey presto a hinge cover for the Kirkham

And finally installed

It is black its just the camera flash that makes it look grey.

I know its not double over head valve rockers arms with multipoint bling and really awesome bits but I thought it was pretty cool and may be of interest for someone.

Cheers

Lex

if you tell me that you are not a fabricator, and learnt to do this from 'google' - then that is freakin' awesome!!!

And if you are a trained fabricator - nice work too...

Tony
