I have lights!
Minor break through,
I now have all of my lights working. Reversing lights http://rs66.pbsrc.com/albums/h257/ka...0?t=1404602304 Brake lights and tail lights http://rs66.pbsrc.com/albums/h257/ka...0?t=1404602287 and the headlights, high and low beam http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h2...g?t=1404602293 Indicators work as well, I have a video but don't know how to upload it. Still some issues under / in the dash to sort out, hopefully something simple like a bad earth PS. Why does one picture paste large and the others small? same camera same number of pixels |
Nice work lexy, by the way.
Re pics, you're just using the wrong link. Here are the big pics. And the video: http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h2...psfff1c038.jpg http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h2...ps06986c92.jpg http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h2...sb2bded9d.jpeg http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h2...sc6f62ce4.jpeg |

small update
My engine is the next piece in the puzzle,
I am not much of a mechanic and EFI , computer stuff frightens me. But the only way to learn is to have a go I guess, and it is the only way this baby will ever hit the road. So what I am trying to put together for compliance is a stock 1995 351 Mustang Cobra R engine. (they built 250 of them) I think a few guys going for 351's are going with this set up This is what I have now http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h2...g?t=1408961181 And this is what was in my letterbox when I got home!!!!!! http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h2...g?t=1408961252 http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h2...g?t=1408961245 super exited!! Still need a lot of bits and pieces, dizzy, ecu (has to be OME I need to display/show it when it is inspected) engine wiring and connectors, stock rocker cover etc,etc But at least that big void in the engine bay will be filled.. Cheers |
You must have a huge letterbox mate, haha. Not much to go and you make real noise.
|
Cool.
I'm not much of an engine mechanic either; how do you even work out what bits to order so they all match, especially if you've got a limited edition engine!? Looks like fun though. I intend learning the same way. Good luck, and keep us posted! |
Hi Guye
To find what you need let Google be your friend it is amazing what information is out there From manufactures and other forums I also got a good look when AP had their intake unit bolted on my engine And I took a lot of photos, asked a plot of dumb question Surprisingly most guys I have spoken to or E- mailed in the US are REALY helpful Cheers |
I'm not afraid to ask dumb questions. So I should be ok :-)
|
well done I bet your well pleased with it all ..just as a side note I see more cobras with the rear lights not been the usual bee hive ones and rectangle in shape I have to admit I prefer the bee hive ones myself
cheers dean |
More trinkets
I got some more little trinkets for my car today,
my engineer did not think the bonnet handles would pass inspection and suggested I look for an low profile alternative. I could not find anything I liked so I designed something, inspired from my XB GT lookalike that I owned many years ago. My dear friend Mike turned them up for me in aluminum http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h2...g?t=1409049309 He also made me a gear knob http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h2...g?t=1409049315 Deano from what I have seen in my books the rectangular tail light is closer to original than the two small round lights, please correct me if I am wrong Cheers Kent |
your prob right kent as a lot of the pictures I have show the rectangular lights also but then the bee hive ones are on a lot of others . I used landrover lights on my first cobra yrs ago.
I guess its just a personal thing to what you prefer no wrong or right . |

Very nice Kent,
The fabrication skills on display here put me to shame :o Nice work indeed. Just for your interest: Quik latch mini. QL-25 S Quik-Latch Mini Latch Fastener Sorry to be Johnny come late... But hey... It's all I got. |
Dimis they are really nice..but it would require modifying the existing latch under the hood. What i had made is a direct swap out with no mods, so I can go back to the handle if I want to

The Kirkham body shape is manufactured for rectangular lights. So those guys don't have much choice. I believe our rectangular lights have the following advantages over round lights:
