Nice work, those pipes will be nearly identical as mine.
But hopefully less the annoying rattle that my driver side has.
They are loud but not too loud at cruise. WOT is a different matter all together though

Looking good Ben. Just be aware that fine steel wool can burn.

Steel wool burns easily.. Try lighting an old steelo pad !!
Possibly worth trying muffler packing which you can get from a local motorcycle shop.

I know about domestic steel wool, we used to use it as fire lighters in Scouts

Once you have the wool on buy a cheap working blanket and wrap it with that before sliding it into the outer pipe.
It drops the outer temp of your side pipe by a mile.

Throw in a couple of dishwasher pellets while you are at it.

Looking good Ben. Good to see people with a have a go attitude.

What the reason for welding all of the primaries together along their edges?

I remember Craig (750HP) did something similar but cut the internal sections of the pipe out to make it one big pipe out of 4 smaller pipes. I think for the reason that he needed shorter primaries and a longer collector for his blown motor.

Have you got tyres and wheels fitted yet?

Cheers

A few more small jobs ticked off.

Finished the charcoal canister plumbing, plumbed up the fuel filler neck, made a bracket and mounted the coolant overflow bottle. Also rewired the EGR purge valve as I moved the valve to a different spot than I had originally planned, and wired the water temp gauge sender

Keep going with the updates.

Another weekend closer to the Nationals, e-gad!

Complete exhaust system is now finished up and ready to go for ceramic coating;

Pulled the windscreen off to drill the holes for the centre bracket, mounted the rear view mirror and also the visors and windwings

Also finished up the fuel system, tightened alll the fittings, fitted the washer jet plumbing. Still plenty more to do before October....

Ben

Don't those exhaust tips on the side pipes need to have some amount of downward deflection to meet ADR's?

I didn't think they could point sideways as they seem to appear in your photos?

Good work regardless by the way!

Cheers

No I don't believe so. Pipes are not allowed to face upwards - typically this is referring to rear exit, but the ADR no longer state anything about side exit, so same rules apply, it needs to be horizontal or downwards.

Building your own pipes, this has been really cool to follow, right from the start with the early mock up from the heads, to having the headers made to this.

Looks really good and in poportion, like the Aussie mike ones as well. Will be good to see coated as well.
