Fair call. Don't underestimate though how low you can lowball some vendors. I got mine $13k lower than what it was originally advertised for.
Sometimes the vendor may have pressure (financial, family etc) to sell or impatience that gets the better of them.
Best of luck and I'll keep the ears open for you.

Hi Deano - thoughts on Rod's car from Blacktown on carsales? The RMC for $52k blue and white reg'd NSW. Also has more details and photos on NSW Club site.
Looks good value to me .
And just so you know too, I don't know who the owner is and never met them either.

I flew down to see that car 2 weeks ago and wasn't even allowed a test drive only allowed to sit in the passenger seat for a 5 to 10 min drive around the town .car had big stone chips about the size of ya thumbnails just behind the drivers roll bar . one front wheel sits about 20 mm forward than the other one from the back of the wheel well .
under the passenger's side side pipe there is a area of crushed broken fiberglass where it looks like someone has used a trolly jack.

was peeved we flew from Adelaide to Launceston and told too many tire kickers come to look so no test drive at all .in the original car sales tadvert here was a photo of the dash with a glove box in real life no glove box its been badly retrimmed across the dash . that photo has been taken down now .my opinion is those photos had been taken when car come out of the paint shop not what it looks like 15 yrs later in real life was very disappointed in the way we was treated and the condition of the car . car is on consignment at a car yard the owners were "out of state " the weekend we arranged to come down .

so im a bit wary about flying to see more cars unless there is a ****load of recent photos and I can see a copy of the engineers report before I fly too look . some people ive talked too have been very accommodating and honest and open . the one from tassie was just a bad experience .but I got too see some of tassie as ive never been there my wife and I treated it just as a weekend away still it was a 1000 buck weekend that could have been used towards another car .

cheers dean

For a bucket load of money asked the cobra must have all the credentials and constructed to a satisfactory standard,
Caveat emptor applies and it is pleasing that you had spotted or noted the poor engineering amongst other things.
If you got time I would start from scratch as there are plenty abandoned projects scattered around Australia
It is most satisfying!

I talked with the owner later when we got back home and they seemed surprised there was stone chips and denied any damage underneath they admitted the glove boxpic was a old one and removed it from carsales . ive built one before and quite frankly I just don't have the time to go thru it again I just want to hop in and drive lol .
cheers dean
