I should have done that 30 yrs ago Iwhen I first started racing would have a whole shed dedicated to the gods of speed. there would be a collection of turbos and blower housings . quite few halibrand quick change axle tubes a few engines a couple of race undies where I **** myself lol .a few empty wallets would be there as well as some dead credit cards . plenty of fibreglass panels and more than one chassis . god knows how many wide 5 rims and the list goes on .speedway is hard on cars and wallets .

just a thought spokypt for all your spending on diffs I would mound a halibrand quick change centre in there strong as heck and only takes a couple of mins to throw in a different gear set to change your ratio ? just a thought

I'll join the club...just got back from Brisbane, where I dropped off my diff for an urgent analysis.

He just phoned me a few minutes ago,and tells me that the Crown and pinion gears are stuffed...and new ones going in on Monday.

So much for the " Fully reconditioned diff" that I bought....any way, I'll be happy now with NEW bits in it.....bearings etc as well...so it WILL be "Fully reconditioned" on Monday .

ALSO...This time, the new bits will be at ratio that I THOUGHT I already had i.e. 3.7 ,
and will be way better than the one that it turned out to be 3.2

Although the LS7 is very smooth and very "torquey" ( Is that a real word ?)....
I had always been sitting on about 1700 revs doing 110 k.p.h. in 6th. gear....
now it will be even SMOOTHER at around 1,960 revs on the same speed.

In fact all the gears will be nicer.

I'd always suspected that the ratio was wrong...(In fact, I was pretty sure, just using maths), but never checked when it was up on a hoist...or even had a quick look at the stamp on the housing.

As usual....hoping there are no hold ups with any of this....
heading off on Wednesday for the bi-annual "Cooma Surf to Summit Run"....
http://www.coomacarclub.com.au/surf-to-summit/
about 4,000 klms in the Cobra over a 7 day period.

wouldn't like to miss out again...

that stupid "Open heart thingy" stuffed it up for me last time.

Cheers,
Warren.
