Probably both Mike, I work in Hell, at least they have Beer and Peanuts, and Friday's are seafood nights.

here's a link to the QLD TMR for ICV's
http://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&rc...zOp4MdnLh93TUw TMR will accept engines which comply with ADR 37/01 or later |
Now see what you've started Jasbel? (Or reignited probably --- this argument bubbles along just under the surface all the time.)
My 2 cents? If I were in the happy situation where I could start from scratch I'd be straight over to Absolute Pace and put in my order with a few special mods to accommodate my height, then I'd be on the phone quicksmart to Holmart to grab one of their bargain priced LSA motors before they all go -- I really cannot imagine a more perfectly suited motor for a Cobra on the market in Aus today that meets all the compliancing parameters and yet delivers just north of 500 civilised horsepower -- and then up to Warwick to talk to Chris Hatfield at Mal Woods' shop about some sort of sequential box, failing that a prepped TKO 600. Seeing I'm an acknowledged disaster with spanner in hand I'd be calling upon the long-proven talents of Scott Hampson at Venom to bring my whole dream to life. If I were younger I'd be going for a high comp stroked small block with something like Stack or Kinsler injection and around 600 hp of cantankerous nastiness but those days are behind me now, and I reckon the combo I've described above would be a superb street car with more than enough grin-factor, while at the same time being something that would start first time every time and be capable of heading off interstate with no worries about reliability. Also, being an Absolute Pace, it goes without saying that it would look totally imposing and magnificent. |

An LSx with faux rocker covers... give me a break. |
There you go. Put a Ferrari engine in it :)
I seem to remember seeing some fakey-do Ferrari rocker covers on an LS motor somewhere. Cant remember where... :p |
The ADR you need to comply with for Australian full rego is ADR37/01. The motor doesnt need to have an AU designation. Motors fitted to American vehicles from 1994 onwards (CARB requirements were/are much more stringent then AU requirements) will meet the requirements of ADR 37/01.
The Coyote (american designation) is the same engine as the Miami (australian designation) the difference is that the Miami has lower compression for the Super charger that ford fit, the American equivalent is the Aluminator (from memory). So long as the motor has all the normal pollution gear (cat converters charcoal canister etc etc etc) and ECM that it comes from factory with your engineer should sign off on it. The alternative is get what ever you want and pass IMO 240. |
Any of the modern engines particularly the crate engines are very good value for money whether Ford Or Chev.
I have chosen to go with a Coyote Aluminator for the simple reasons below: 1. It's a Ford 2. All aluminium and light, around 200+kg 3. Bloody big, will fill the engine bay. 4. Economical...nah, couldn't care less 5 Easily complies with Aussie emissions 6 Plenty of grunt..420 HP, 390ft.lbs torque standard Their are a variety of Coyote engines: 1 M-6007-M50 Standard 2 M-6007 M50S Standard sealed for racing specs so they cant be tampered with. 3 M-6007 M50NA Aluminator. Has heavily upgraded components. 4 M-6007-M50SC Low Compression for supercharginging 5 M-6007-SCJ14 Supercharged There are other varieties as well such as the Boss and other race versions. Thing to keep in mind with the Coyote is that it is designed to rev high so they must be geared accordingly and popping down the road at 110 on 1750RPM does not work as the power band starts around 2400RPM and their low speed torque is not good. As Damage said, lots of good parts are being developed for these engines now including 8 stack injection Have a look on the internet for pricing but they start at around USD6150 for standard. Cheers Russell |
Starting to really like those Coyotes for something in the future!

In September 1961, American automotive designer Carroll Shelby wrote to AC asking if they would build him a car modified to accept a V8 engine. AC agreed, provided a suitable engine could be found. Shelby went to Chevrolet to see if they would provide him with engines, but not wanting to add competition to the Corvette they said no. However, Ford wanted a car that could compete with the Corvette and they happened to have a brand new engine which could be used in this endeavor: Ford's 260 in³ HiPo (4.2 L) engine – a new lightweight, thin-wall cast small-block V8 tuned for high performance. |

I think Don is Absolutely on the Pace here and is gunning for your job!!!! Watch your back! :3DSMILE: |
Let Don do his thing...the more the merrier....we've just made a bit of room this week, so the next batch of sales is always welcome.
Love the job...and love the level of enthusiasm in all of it. We delivered 7 cars in the last week !!! I'll be in there tomorrow...getting in contact with about 15 serious enquiries in the last week/10 days. Had an interesting fellow in today that's as keen as.... he currently owns 55 race cars.:eek: Lots of serious gear included in that stable...(FOUR Aston Martins and multiples of /Ferrari/Porsche/Viper) He's really keen on both the Pace 427 and the Pace GT ( GT40).... Told him it would help me out a lot with paper work...if he could do BOTH at the same time, and I only need one customer file card....gotta think of the savings.!! Beer time....tired boy after the last week... cheers, Warren. |

He was a very interesting bloke....apart from all of the really expensive type sports cars in the collection...also has a "Mint" HQ Holden, with a 900 hp engine....Loves all types of toys I'm guessing.
I'm also guessing that , as far as "race" cars..he has been happy with those "real" cars, with pedigrees..... I recon it's a feather in our caps that he sees the "replica" Pace 427 as something that will measure up to those thoroughbreds. He was really impressed with the chassis, and the suspension set up. Thinks that his viper running gear( Got one that he's bent, but all the running gear needs a home) would sit nicely in that chassis......I'm not arguing ! We'll see...and I'll let you know. Cheers, Warren. |
