We can talk tomorrow....I already have laid out what has happened, and I don't think this is the way to communicate.
We've had plenty of communication, but I think the forum is not the way to sort this out.
Talk tomorrow.
Cheers,
Warren

Patience, and to think years gone by it was normal to wait 6 months just to get a commodore with a couple of personalised bits. That same commodore now is worth 2 mung beans and a carrot.

In the meantime Auswallaby… why not swing by and give me a hand. I could have used you on the weekend when I fitted my battery. Inverted in the passenger footwell and weighs a ton… I think I had a bowel prolapse.

Id like to hear the good and the bad of the build as it progresses. I know Wazza, there has been a tendency to want to keep criticism off the public forum but I don't have a problem with people discussing their problems on the forum at all, as long as the information isn't defamatory or the criticism isn't too personal.

The PACE car is not ALL good and certainly not ALL bad. Just like any business. Its an impressive piece of kit and I've enjoyed building it thoroughly, but if there isn't constructive criticism, there won't be improvement, in the car or the business.

I'll start first -

1. Positive - Off the stands and on wheels the car has an amazing and aggressive stance. Neighbours stop to talk every time they walk past the open garage.. makes getting anything done difficult.

2. Negative - The battery bracket design/position is problematic. The nuts that sit next to the passenger sidewall sit a couple of cms from the wall meaning you can't tighten them with a spanner or any other device other than your hand. In the process of bending a spanner 90 degrees in a vice my dad broke the spanner sending it flying across the garage and narrowly missing my new windscreen. Advice - heat metal before bending.

I saw a similar problem with the battery carrier so I removed the bolts and tacked nuts to the upper part of the carrier. I used bolts to come up from the bottom of the carrier and made them long enough so that the carrier can be lowered to remove the battery without separating it completely.
The bolts can be lowered using a battery drill with an extension quite easily and by undoing two adjacent bolts to their limit and alternating the other two, the carrier comes down taking the weight of the battery which is bl##dy heavy.
I think the bolts I used were 5/16" x 2" stainless cup head with hex drive and a dab of anti-seize, worked a treat.
I also used the services of a 11" long nose plier and a lady friend with very small hands to do up the two back nuts on the actual carrier mounting, once you have that done, everything else is easy.

Congrats on the purchase and looking forward to seeing your progress Auswallaby.

Whatever the wait is Im sure it will be worth it.

On a side note....One thing I learned about keeping customers happy is say "what your going to do" and "do what you said you would". I still havent learnt when it comes to my missus....she has learnt to at least double any time estimate I give (except for sexy time estimates, which is usually followed by a "are we doing it 4 times?").

I am planning an LS3 too -

to help me, why the 3.7 LSD?

and why TR6060 - what are the pro's and con's vs the TKO?

Cheers

Had a bit of a read from a plethora of other forums and came to the conclusion that I wanted the 6060. From the Mal wood page "This transmission is the latest offering from Tremec, and is found in all new vehicles from 2008. This transmission features improved synchronisers, shifter mechanism, larger gears and a stronger 1 piece cluster. This transmission also features a higher Torque rating over earlier T56 Transmisisons."
Further..."Tremec TR-6060 - 6 Speed

The TR-6060 is the latest and greatest in TREMEC's high-performance O.E. transmission family; designed to help O.E.M. customers more effectively make use of their extreme power and torque offerings. A nearly complete departure from the original T56 it was designed to replace, the TR-6060 represents a vast improvement over the T56 in nearly every conceivable way.

Featuring all new compact synchronisers, TREMEC engineers created additional space to stuff substantially wider gears, thus increasing torque capacity while at the same time creating shorter throws and a better shift feel! While the packaging itself appears virtually unchanged; not a single component, from the forks to the split washers to the main case itself, went without an improvement.

TR-6060 Overview
The "next-generation" TREMEC 6 speed, introduced in 2007
Combines proven T56 architecture with all new components and advanced manufacturing methods
Up to 600lb-ft. of torque capacity
Application specific shifter, speedometer, and mounting provisions (varying by OE model)
The basis for TREMEC's T56 Magnum aftermarket performance transmission"

The ratios were pretty good for what I want as a daily driver. Also noted that there is speculation that the freeway speeds in NSW were going to increase to 130kph, so a much better cruising rpm.
