Oh, you were referring to 1965 when Ferrari didn't run a 'Works' GT team and Ford just managed to beat some untalented playboy privateers in 4 year old Ferraris.

Why would your father buy you a roadster when it is the Daytona that just scraped in.

Was 1965 the year when Enzo F had a dummy spit and took his bat and ball home when he was found he could no longer manipulate the FIA for his benefit?

I believe Ferrari pulled the plug and there were only privateer cars running against the Daytona Cobras.

I think that was also around the time when they dropped the capacity limit to 3.0L unless they had enough production cars for homologation. I think that's the loophole the GT40 got through with it's 7.0L 427 motor.

I give all engines credit where credits due! As long as it's naturally aspirated!!! (a sniff of nitrous is OK though )
I hope my little sausage gives the GM crew a run at the nats when it gets down there.

OK, in a fleeting moment of weakness, this blue jedi wants to congratulate the LS brigade on their choice (despite it being the dark side. You've done well, but you already knew that

Pls feel free to celebrate by posting your pics.

Enjoy!

I actually like all kinds of engines. I reckon one of the better sounding engines in a Cobra was Leroy's LS1 Harrison with its cross ram EFI and live side pipes.

The LS family is a solid platform.

But it should be, since they copied a lot of traits from the Ford Cleveland head.

Yep, you got us there.
Both the LS and the Cleveland have valves, rockers and both are held to the blocks with bolts.

Yeah, I hope you're not a professional comedian....

However, you may want to do a little research before you pass it off as a quip...

Considering the LS was a "clean-sheet" design, it's funny that GM used a lot of SBF/Cleveland engine traits....simliar deck heights, same intake port CSA between LS7 and 351C-4V head, similar valve sizes, etc. The head actually is so close that it will bolt right to a Cleveland or Windsor block without issue.

The LS also shares a skirted block, like a Modular Ford or a Ford FE. I guess GM was getting the hint.

It's a shame that ford didn't use all their own design cues then isn't it?

And you can catch my live show right here every Monday Thursday and Friday night

Well, unless I'm missing something, ford did use them for 40 some years....what's not clear about that? Long enough for GM to say, "hmm, we need something different, let's copy some stuff."
